I am a Registered Psychologist with over 30 years experience. I work effectively with children, adolescents and adults. I have worked extensively in the areas of trauma, grief and loss, separation/divorce, anxiety/depression, suicide intervention, suicide bereavement, parenting issues and domestic violence. I utilize art and play therapy interventions while working with children and teens. I focus on hope and teaching positive coping skills. I am trained in EMDR and ART and am skilled in working with complex trauma and PTSD. I believe we all have the capacity to overcome any challenge.
I have specialized training in EMDR, ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), Trauma Focused CBT and CFTSI. The ChildTrauma Academy acknowledges that Rhonda Kent has completed NMT Training Certification through the Phase 2 level. I have advanced training in DBT (Dialectic Behaviour Therapy), CPS (Collaborative Problem Solving), CISM and play therapy.
For 10 years, I worked closely with EMS and Fire in regards to their Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) teams and volunteered as their clinical director. I continue to enjoy working with emergency personnel as I understand their culture enough to be helpful in regards to some of the traumatic experiences they encounter.
