Getting support to heal and thrive takes courage. At Retreat Cove Counselling, I offer an environment that is direct, transparent, caring, and nonjudgmental. I believe that the role of the counsellor is one of facilitation and collaboration. I am interested in working alongside individuals, families, neurodiversity, 2SLGBTQI+ folks, and people in a variety of relationship structures. I aim towards an anti-oppressive framework and welcome feedback. I draw on a variety of approaches to support people in developing skills and strategies that are practical and creative.
I practice from a trauma-informed, person-centered perspective including techniques from emotion focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and aspects of somatic therapy. I believe in aiding people in developing and mastering the skills they need to flourish and make the shifts they seek in their own lives.
Born in N. England, I now live in the woods on Galiano Island with my partner and our three children. I am a cis female (she/they), able-bodied, white person who experiences neurodiversity in the form of ADHD, a complex learning profile, and anxiety. I love kayaking, dancing, all textile arts, forging, and a good book. I look forward to getting to know you.
