The guidelines that define my psychotherapy work are firstly to establish a therapeutic relationship that could allow the client to feel safe and understood. Secondly, I facilitate reflection and discovery of new meanings on those significant issues in the client’s present life. Those issues could be specific, such as feeling concerned about relationships, self-esteem, stress, work, or they could be unspecific, such as feeling emotional, irritable, distressed, or unfulfilled. Lastly, my approach is tailored by the client’s needs and can encompass diverse strategies and techniques.

I love working with individuals, couples, and groups around attachment and relationship issues.
Are you struggling with feeling sad, anxious, angry, ashamed, lonely, or confused? Are you struggling within yourself or in your relationship? Psychotherapy can really help. It helps enormously to have a safe person to be able to feel, express, digest and understand your experience with, including how it was shaped by your early relationships in life. Our early development powerfully shapes how we feel about ourselves and what we expect in our lives and in our relationships. More freedom, connection, and joy is possible. I work with adults, specializing in relationships, attachment, self-esteem, parenting, and trauma recovery.

I am a family systems therapist who works with youth, parents and couples who have experienced various mental health challenges or are facing stress and anxiety due to relationship conflict. The families I tend to support are often feeling disconnected from one another and stuck in patterns of relating that often intensify their existing challenges. The foundation of my work is in building relationships where clients feel seen, heard and understood, allowing them to draw on their internal strengths. My role as a social worker is to help clients understand themselves and their relationships in a way that supports authentic growth.

Fostering a relationship built on trust provides a safe and open pathway forward.
Psychoanalytic (or psychodynamic) therapy can help us to become more aware of our thinking patterns and behaviours so we can better understand the obstacles that may be standing in our way. With time, we can gain new perspectives and develop the capacity to deal with life's twists and turns, and meet our needs over the long-term.

In the context of a therapeutic relationship, we will work on helping you feel secure, capable, and content.
Sometimes in life, we can feel stuck and have a hard time seeing our way forward. A change in your life can leave you feeling hopeless, empty, confused, or lost. Ending a relationship, loosing a loved one, or finding yourself as a caregiver may throw you on a path that you didn’t expect and have a hard time navigating. Right now, you can't see your way forward, but you want to find a way through the weeds so you don't feel so bogged down and overwhelmed.

While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
