I specialize in working with folks who struggle to manage emotions, whether that be that emotions feel particularly overwhelming and out of control, or whether you are more commonly feeling numb or disconnected. If you often feel as though your emotions cause problems in your life or get in the way of a life worth living, we can work together to better understand what keeps you stuck in painful emotions or unwanted behaviours and find a path forward. Common diagnoses that I work with include Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), long-standing or "treatment resistant" depression and/or anxiety, PTSD and Complex PTSD.
My two main approaches are Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), specializing in C-PTSD and attachment. Clients typically like a balance of concrete skills to make change here and now together with processing past trauma to reduce the impact it has on your beliefs about yourself and the world.
One of the most important things in therapy "working well" is finding a good fit. If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out and we can book a consult call to discuss the concerns bringing you in and I can describe my approach to therapy to determine if that is what you are looking for. I also offer Comprehensive DBT in partnership with ECSS.
