My approach is based on listening, understanding and activation. Listen to understand and propel you into change. I use three basic approaches: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness. I integrate other modalities when necessary. CBT: to discover the thoughts and beliefs that affect your emotions and behaviors. EFT: to help you stop avoiding emotions and use them as carriers of information essential to your mental health. Mindfulness to bring a different way of being in the world, deal with stress and develop a dynamic relationship with your environment.

Life can feel overwhelming. We may find ourselves caught in recurring conflicts, struggling with major life transitions, or facing challenges that seem difficult to overcome. At times, things can feel so painful or discouraging that it is hard to see a way forward. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, grief, intense emotions, or emotional numbness. You may also be experiencing difficulties in important relationships, whether with your partner, family members, or others close to you.

I have worked closely with domestic violence survivors and their children, first-episode psychosis patients and caregivers, and migrants with precarious status.
Hello, I'm Echo Jiang, a Quebec-registered clinical social worker fluent in Mandarin, English, French, and Spanish. I have over five years of experience in individual social work interventions. I also founded Espace Résonance to provide culturally responsive mental health resources for Chinese Quebecers. Eight years ago, I arrived in Quebec alone as a young international student. Like many first-generation immigrants who have made Quebec home, I've navigated the path from uncertainty to belonging. It allows me to deeply understand those navigating life transitions, facing stressful situations, or confronting difficult decisions.

The psychotherapy I am offering aims to understand the nature of your current difficulties and their underlying conflicts. The psychothetapetical treatment focuses on unresolved issues or repressed trauma, bringing the latent conflicts to consciousness. Gradually, you are becoming aware of the unconscious aspects of your distress, which eventually allows you to overcome it. I am giving importance to the development of trust and will encourages you to freely express your emotions, thoughts, memories and dreams.

I work in Hudson, 30 minutes from the West Island and about 20 from Vaudreuil. My areas of specialization are in the treatment of anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, addiction, chronic health problems and couple therapy. Many of my clients tend to be people-pleasers and/or perfectionists, which can predispose one to develop relationship difficulties, anger or burnout. I use psychological techniques that have been shown to work by the fields of psychology and psychiatry to help my clients resolve their problems, change dysfunctional thoughts and behaviours, and accept situations over which they have no control.

Psychotherapy is a good place to ease suffering, to arrive at more satisfying decisions, and to gain vitality. Are you worried about certain symptoms, or feeling unable to cope with emotions? Maybe you are discouraged, confused, or unsatisfied with "stuck" patterns in your relationships. Therapy offers a re-looking at what is close to us already. Sometimes, we recognize what we know, but in a different way. What frees us from lonely paralysis or the repetition of unsatisfying behaviour or thinking is the presence of another. This blind circle of reflection only opens up when there is someone to talk to.

I believe that seeking support from another human being is a very natural thing to do. As a therapist, I believe that my humanity is an asset in supporting clients as they work through challenges, developing a deeper understanding of their lives. As a counsellor and art therapist, I focus on creating a therapeutic relationship based on trust, where I bring a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach paired with my training to help clients work through whatever challenges they are facing. I have a special passion for working with immigrants and refugees: as a newcomer to Canada, I understand the struggles that are often presented.

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
