In my specialty, I often work with young children who are manifesting developmental differences or symptoms like anxiety, and with older children who are encountering obstacles related to a diagnosis or to trauma.
With a colleague, I also offer team-based music therapy for children that takes into account Amelia Oldfield's work with families, Nordoff-Robbins, and Willy Apollon's theory of child development. Sessions are currently offered privately and at local group practices. To learn more about this, click the website link included on this page.

My professional background is in working with Domestic Violence victims and perpetrators, families in youth protection, with the Mental Health Emergency Team at the Montreal Children's Hospital, and addictions counselling at Heritage Home Foundation.
Thinking "I'm exhausted, I'm tired of feeling this way, and I don't know how to fix it" is a heavy way to live. When you are caught in a repeating loop with your partner, or quietly battling an impulse that feels impossible to live with or break free from, those thoughts can completely take over. You might be having the exact same argument over and over, desperately chasing after a distant partner, friend, or co-worker or pulling away to avoid being swallowed up. If you are carrying a physical tension in your body that leaves you disconnected from those you love, let's step out of the loop.

I've helped support children, adults and couples dealing with childhood trauma, grief, depression, anxiety & relationship challenges.
You may find yourself feeling stretched thin, caught in your head, or disconnected from who you are, the life you’re living, or the relationship you’re in. Stress, anxiety, low mood, or major life changes can slowly take a toll, leaving you feeling unsettled or unsure of your next step. In relationships, this might look like constant tension, feeling misunderstood, or growing apart despite your efforts. Individually, it can show up as overthinking, emotional exhaustion, or a lingering sense that something is off. Whatever brings you here, you know things can’t keep going this way.

I provide collaborative, empowering, and non-pathologising drama therapy for adults and children.
Distress doesn’t exist in isolation—it is shaped by social, cultural, and structural forces. I have worked extensively with LGBTQ+ and trans communities, fostering therapeutic spaces where diverse identities, fluidity, and non-normative ways of being are recognised and supported.

With a background in child and youth care, I provide a safe, supportive space to help individuals navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and develop practical strategies for emotional well-being.
Hey! I’m Katherine, a therapist who believes meaningful change begins when you feel truly heard. To me, therapy should feel like having coffee with a friend - just one who’s trained in mental health. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and I'm on a mission to change that. Whether you’re moving through big life transitions, working through anxiety or past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to support you with compassion, curiosity, and a healthy dose of humour along the way.

I have extensive experience working with families, young children and adolescents, as well as adults with relational and intra personal difficulties.
Are you feeling stressed, anxious, even overwhelmed? Are you having conflicts in your personal relationships, with family, or in the workplace? Therapy can help sort through the issues, and help make sense of some of the symptoms you may be having, and the patterns which keep repeating. I use a psycho dynamic approach, through a lens of systemic training, and attachment theory. I have extensive experience working with clients suffering from anxiety and depression, and who struggle with communication/relational issues.

I believe that seeking support from another human being is a very natural thing to do. As a therapist, I believe that my humanity is an asset in supporting clients as they work through challenges, developing a deeper understanding of their lives. As a counsellor and art therapist, I focus on creating a therapeutic relationship based on trust, where I bring a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach paired with my training to help clients work through whatever challenges they are facing. I have a special passion for working with immigrants and refugees: as a newcomer to Canada, I understand the struggles that are often presented.

Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present.
The process focuses on insights, which are personal realizations about deep-rooted thoughts, emotions, memories, and the reasons behind past events. These insights help individuals understand what happened, why it happened, and how it influenced them, allowing for greater meaning, clarity, and context in their lives.

A type of therapy beyond speech ... Whether it is to express emotions, regain power over your life or find tools for personal growth, which differentiates drama therapy from other forms of "psycho-therapy which are generally focused on speech "is that in dramatherapy, in addition to using words, we also use expressive tools that can pass through the whole body: projective techniques, bodily movements, breathing and mindfulness exercises, creation of rituals, creation of stories, improvisations, theory and method of roles, etc. The exploration process become therapeutic in itself.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
