I am a psychotherapist and a licensed couple and family therapist. I was the winner of the award for clinical excellence for couple and family therapy from McGill University 2019. I received a Master's in psychology in 2009. My main area of focus is
trauma
and how it impacts adult individuals and couples. I understand that right now you may feel that as though you have too much on your plate and that you are struggling to balance all of life's demands. I believe that many people do not take the time to focus on themselves and invest in their emotional well- being.

Hypnosis and EMDR are focused approaches that help you access the wisdom that lies hidden in your subconscious mind and eliminate the residues of
trauma
.
In my Counselling practice, I use Hypnotherapy with women who want to overcome anxiety related to low self esteem and poor body image, emotional eating, weight loss difficulties, lack of exercise motivation, social and performance anxiety, as well as insomnia, phobias, fears, situation specific behaviors, limiting beliefs that affect your personal life or professional performance. I also use EMDR with clients who need to overcome past traumatic experiences and help reshape their emotional reaction, thoughts and beliefs into more positive, constructive ones that help lead to a happier, more fulfilling life.

My expertise lies in the recalibration of chronic pain, addiction,
trauma
, grief, anxiety, depression, and anger.
“Somatics” are the lived experiences of our bodies. In our sessions, you (re)learn how to be comfortable in your own skin so your attention can be redirected toward other purposes. By resetting and expanding your nervous system’s responses, your day-to-day life can feel less overwhelming, and your access to joy, connection, trust, physical energy, and rest increases. Benefits of this approach may include increased felt sense of your healthy boundaries, improved sleep, increased ability to fluctuate between different states of intensity in life without feeling stuck, and ability to attend to your needs first while caring for others.

I use a client-centered humanistic approach,
trauma
and attachment informed with an emphasis on self-compassion.
As a creative arts therapist, I believe that a client is the artist of their own life, incorporating their signature colors, themes, forms, and techniques that stand out, tell the world their story and connect through them to the universe. I work with children, teenagers, and adults helping them to recognize and affirm their identity through art creation, movement, and storytelling. I am a guest on the clients' inner journey between the feelings, stories, memories, cultural values, and individual and collective traumas that inform their whole person.

I specialize in
trauma
-informed music therapy with 2SLGBTQIAP*+, disabled, neurodivergent and neurotypical children, adolescents, and young adults.
Sometimes words are not enough or are inaccessible. Through musical explorations in the context of a therapeutic relationship, people can develop new coping skills, express themselves creatively and reconnect to themselves. Music therapists use active and receptive techniques in sessions. These include improvising, songwriting, and music listening and sharing. Clients’ needs, preferences, and strengths determine the course of their experiences in music therapy. I listen and support through active listening, verbal reflections, and through my own music-making. No prior musical training is necessary to experience music therapy.

As a psychotherapist and clinical counselor, I've worked 9+ years with diverse clients with various issues like behavioral problems, emotional regulation,
PTSD
, anxiety, depression, etc.
Throughout our sessions, I strive to create an environment of compassion, acceptance, and present moment awareness. I don't see myself as fundamentally different from the client, but rather as someone who can bring a fresh perspective to their situation. I believe that the client and I are both climbing our own mountains, and I can use my vantage point to identify obstacles on their mountain that they may not be aware of. In therapy, every struggle is important, and no one's pain is greater or less than another's. Together, we can then find new ways to navigate these obstacles and chart a new course towards a more fulfilling life.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
