I have worked with issues such as Depression, Stress Management, CPTSD, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Gender Dysphoria, Eating Disorders, Addictions, BPD and PTSD.
I work from an anti-oppressive integrative model. Warmth and empathy are the core of my practice. I understand the impacts of trauma through my work with street entrenched indigenous people in downtown Winnipeg during my twenties. My graduate research was on queer theory and trauma modalities in transgender populations.

Through CFT training, an internship at MUSIC, and being a member of the transgender research group, I have developed a growing competency and keen interest in working with 2SLGBTQIA+ racialized, immigrant clients and couples.
Maneuvering through the different stages of "Life Journey" can be fulfilling as well as filled with periods of high stress and emotional imbalance. Through the guiding principles of dignity, diversity, and self-determination, individual therapy brings growth by focusing on your strengths and resilience. Couple therapy can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection in all stages of their relationship. Through the process of couple therapy, I vow to help you understand and become unstuck from the repetitive cycle of miscommunication, stepping on each other's toes, and triggering unhealed wounds.

I offer reduced rates for people who identify as transgender or QTBIPOC, as well as for those who are receiving compensation for counselling through IVAC.
Over the course of 15 years working in the community sector I have had the pleasure of working with people from many diverse communities, be they BIPOC, on a fixed-income, LGBTQIA2S+, or diagnosed with a disability. I believe that everyone, regardless of their circumstance, deserves the opportunity to be heard. My hope is that by providing a supportive space you will have the opportunity to heal yourself and your relationships with your family and community.

Most of my clients are people who's issues revolve around being or feeling different than the accepted norm, which mostly means LGBTQAI2S+ people but can extend further. My main goal is to help guide them through their difficulties, to help them understand themselves better and to assist them in finding their own way towards well-being.

In my 19 years of working as a psychologist I have met with all types of people facing a myriad of challenges. What I have learned over the years is every one of us is doing our very best to get through life. Sometimes, we need help learning new ways to be our best selves. My goal in therapy is guiding people not just to survive, but to thrive. I will meet you where you are, and build from there. I like to teach skills that can be used long after therapy has ended. I focus not only on healing trauma and reducing symptoms, but I also help others find meaning and fulfillment in order to enjoy life again.

It would be great to find support to navigate the ups and downs without having to constantly educate your therapist about your experiences, and what it means to live in your body. You're looking for someone who will really listen, who affirms you and cares about your well-being and who will be there to help you define your life on your own terms.

Hi! I'm a Black queer social worker, passionate about creating affirming healing spaces for BIPOC, queer folks and trans folks, though I work with many communities. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed with everything going on, and struggling to understand and regulate your emotions. Or, perhaps you’re feeling disconnected from others and from yourself, and wanting to deepen these relationships. Whatever you're going through, everyone deserves compassionate support from a therapist with whom they feel seen, heard and understood. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves, and it is an honour to support that process.

We all struggle sometimes and deserve support. Life can be hard, because of a conflict, transition, separation, loss, or because the world's sick and it's a lot harder for some to survive. It can help to talk, feel supported and heard by someone who can validate and understand our reality. I hope to create an environment full of care, including for queer and trans folks and their loved ones, and everyone living at the intersection of one or several forms of oppression. It's crucial for me to recognize and centre the expertise of each person over their own lived experience.

Are you trying to truly know and see yourself? To develop a friendship? In a world that can be as traumatizing and confusing as ours, many of us must become selves that survive and accommodate. It can be hard to meet and develop other sides of yourself, especially when self-curiosity and changing are rarely taught and encouraged. This is made even harder when one has gone through trauma. Colonial, capitalistic and supremacists systems and mindsets program us to see ourselves and others as ideas and objects. In our work together we can explore how to authentically and joyfully connect.

Glad to have you here — maybe we can find out if I’m someone you’d like as a part of your support system. It would be my gladness to collaborate with you in finding what you need to reach your therapeutic goals. In every case, I will respect your judgement about what you need to move towards growth and I will always do my best to adapt the tools I bring to our sessions to suit your needs. Sometimes we’ll talk carefully through details of your past. Sometimes we’ll use art to explore new ways to face your challenges. Sometimes we’ll find it the most possible to approach the underbelly of your struggles with metaphor and story-making.

Transgender Counsellors

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?

A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?

Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognise a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?

An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognise a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?

Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
