If you are thinking about having a baby, struggling to conceive, are pregnant or are within your first year postpartum and are concerned about your experience, I can help. Sometimes too and tragically, pregnancies don't always end with a happy outcome. Whichever situation you are facing, I can offer you both individualized support or in a group setting so that you don't feel alone and isolated in your current struggle. I work collaboratively with my clients and my style is very conversational. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease in coming to therapy.

I have a deep conviction in the value of this profession and in what unfolds through the therapeutic process. The most important aspect is the meaningful relationship that will develop between us. It will facilitate in the understanding of older relational patterns and will serve as a guide towards more meaningful and secure relationships. You will also have a safe space to explore and gain insight into past experiences that could be too painful and confusing to bring to awareness without a supportive therapeutic presence. Furthermore by working these through it will broaden the range of effective coping strategies used in the present.

Is an important relationship causing you distress? Is it your partner? Your family? Your boss? YourSELF? "Something" is not working within you. Relationships are complicated and are hard to understand. In individual or couples therapy, our work together is to get to the root of your distress, your suffering. We will work to find meaningful, concrete and insightful solutions to better understand yourself and your patterns with others. We will work to either accept, let go or make NEW changes to improve your relationships with others or within yourSELF. The idea is to DO different so life is more meaningful and satisfying.

“Somatics” are the lived experiences of our bodies. In our sessions, you (re)learn how to be comfortable in your own skin so your attention can be redirected toward other purposes. By resetting and expanding your nervous system’s responses, your day-to-day life can feel less overwhelming, and your access to joy, connection, trust, physical energy, and rest increases. Benefits of this approach may include increased felt sense of your healthy boundaries, improved sleep, increased ability to fluctuate between different states of intensity in life without feeling stuck, and ability to attend to your needs first while caring for others.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
