The poem, The Imaginary Career (by Rainer Maria Rilke), illustrates exquisitely our human condition. To quote: "At first a childhood, limitless and free" only to become "Defiance- The child bent becomes the bender". To live in that ".. vast, cold empty space, alone" is a very painful place to find oneself. I am here to join with that person in the "empty space" so that they can understand themselves and heal.

People enter psychotherapy for a variety of reasons, whether it is for anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, grief, illnesses, relational issues, life transitions, or dissatisfaction with their life. No matter the challenge, psychotherapy is an excellent opportunity for us to better understand how we function and reconsider the choices we make in life that contribute to distress and emotional suffering. Within a supportive and nurturing space, my goal is to help you gain new perspectives on your emotion, thought, and behavioural patterns, reconnect with your strengths, and explore concrete new ways of being.

Hello, I am glad you're here. I hope that you find what you’re looking for and, if you'd like, perhaps I can lend you a helping hand along the way. I believe that nurturing a deeper understanding of ourselves, others, and the contexts we live in; recognizing the parts that we can and cannot change; and grieving what we should have received but didn't, can allow us more meaning and contentment as we move in life. I hope to accompany you in your process, whether you feel stuck in repeating patterns, are facing difficult situations, and/or are trying to find balance and fulfillment in the various roles you hold.

Life doesn’t have to feel this heavy. If anxiety, overwhelm, or repeating behaviour patterns are weighing you down, you’re not broken, and you don’t have to face it alone. I’m a trauma-informed therapist with over a decade of counselling experience, and I believe healing begins with feeling truly seen. Your past doesn’t define you, but it does offer insight. Together, we explore how earlier experiences shaped your inner world, so you can release what no longer serves you and move from surviving to thriving.

Therapy isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about having the space to explore what truly matters to you, and feel supported as you find your way forward.
I believe that no experience is too small or too complex to deserve care and understanding. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply uncertain about what’s next, we can work together to make sense of it with compassion and curiosity.

Life sometimes imposes overwhelming challenges that cause us feel lost and believe there is no choice but to suffer. When we are in the midst of a crisis it is not always easy to see a way out. However, in these circumstances, there is often an opportunity for personal growth. It is at this time that a professional may help you identify inner obstacles preventing you from moving forward and experiencing life to its fullest. I see my role as helping clients with that. My clinical practice focuses on individuals and couples from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, and depression.

How do the stories you tell about your life shape your identity or influence how you interact with the world? The stories we have been told about ourselves or the beliefs we hold shape our inner narrative. The significance we give to that narrative influences how we receive, perceive, and do or do not achieve. Through creative exploration of your stories and unearthing those untold, your skills, talents and hard-won knowledge are waiting to engage with whatever problem brings you to therapy.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
