I work mainly with clients who have experienced complex trauma, often rooted in early relationships with attachment figures. These experiences can shape coping patterns that once helped you survive but may make present-day life more challenging. I specialize in dissociation, the experience of feeling disconnected from yourself, your emotions, or the world around you. I also work with clients who identify as neurodivergent (people with different kinds of brains or minds) and/or 2SLGBTQ+, bringing both professional expertise and lived understanding to this work.

I help my clients by working with them to develop a genuine and meaningful relationship that can unfold, modify and heal the unconscious imprints left by old, negative patterns of relating. Our work together will explore your experiences, feelings, and imagination, reflecting both a narrative process and also an intuitive one which deepens as we develop understanding through authenticity, sharing, and trust.

I am a fully bilingual clinical psychologist/psychotherapist with 28 years of rich and varied clinical experience within medical settings and mental health services in the UK and France. I provide a wide range of psychological interventions always tailored to a patient's needs. I help patients get their life back on track as I care deeply about their psychological and physical wellbeing. Having a highly sensitive temperament myself, I offer help to those who have identified themselves as highly sensitive and as a result, face issues that are difficult to deal with. My approach, while primarily psychodynamic, includes EMDR, cognitive strategies, schema therapy, mindfulness.

I provide clients with a space in which they feel supported, valued, comfortable, and heard. As someone with lived experience, I am all too familiar with the challenges of addiction and the destructive behaviours that accompany them. I want to validate your experiences: You are not alone. Let's take the first step, together.

I subscribe to the idea that suffering is a natural part of the human experience; we suffer and experience discomfort so that we can adapt, build resilience, and grow. But it is possible to exceed our threshold of suffering when our coping strategies are no longer sufficient. This is when discomfort begins to feel like pain, anxiety, or depression, and is no longer helpful for growth. I like to think of my role as the collaborator and support system for times like these — helping you move through pain, reconnect with your strengths, and find space for clarity and integration.

My approach is based on listening, understanding and activation. Listen to understand and propel you into change. I use three basic approaches: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness. I integrate other modalities when necessary. CBT: to discover the thoughts and beliefs that affect your emotions and behaviors. EFT: to help you stop avoiding emotions and use them as carriers of information essential to your mental health. Mindfulness to bring a different way of being in the world, deal with stress and develop a dynamic relationship with your environment.

I believe that seeking support from another human being is a very natural thing to do. As a therapist, I believe that my humanity is an asset in supporting clients as they work through challenges, developing a deeper understanding of their lives. As a counsellor and art therapist, I focus on creating a therapeutic relationship based on trust, where I bring a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach paired with my training to help clients work through whatever challenges they are facing. I have a special passion for working with immigrants and refugees: as a newcomer to Canada, I understand the struggles that are often presented.

I follow with my client the main steps and events of his life story ( including if it, s the case immigration story), the mournings in waiting or which are difficult to do, the psychotraumatic sequellae which deteriorate his life day by day. With my client I notice his main reactions and how he is managing his personal and social life. I suggest to my client to identify the changes he wants to bring in his life and I try to show him how he could succeed in and how I can help him to succeed.

From time-to-time all of us have to deal with personal problems. Often we are able to resolve them on our own but occasionally we need to seek the help of a qualified professional. As a licensed Psychologist, I have extensive experience in psychotherapy and counselling. I can help people to overcome adversity in their lives and change things that stand in their way. I make special efforts to tailor my approach to the individual in the room, in order to maximize the potential that clients will be engaged and active participants in their therapy.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
