Therapy can feel scary and uncomfortable, but it can also be a safe and supportive space to help you unpack the difficult experiences and emotions that are weighing heavily upon you. If you can answer yes to any of the following questions, I empathize with your pain and struggle and am ready and willing to help. Are you struggling to navigate a current situation or relationship -dynamic? Are you starting to realize that your usual ways of coping are no longer working for you? Do you want to see and feel change but don't know where to start? Is your inner-dialogue filled with shame, criticism and unhelpful ways of thinking?

Our aim is to build a relationship with who you are to yourself: and discover the ways it comes up against who you are to others and the world around you.
I welcome children & families, adults, and adolescents to my practice. Through discussion or creative process, we carve out a space to hear from your voice of awareness, and from there, identify its needs and goals. From stuck habits to difficult relationship dynamics, we can identify parts of your life that both are and are not serving you; so as to strengthen the parts of you that nurture the more positive aspects, while working to better understand and manage the aspects that may be holding you back. Through a blend of psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and humanistic approaches, we honour and explore your identity and its roles.

I provide evidence-based psychotherapy to adults for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, burn out, time management, and goal setting. I have worked in both University Mental Health settings, and private practices in the Montreal and Toronto areas. I am familiar with the unique challenges of both students and professionals alike. Some clients need only a few sessions to achieve specific therapy goals, while others prefer to spend more time taking a more in depth look at complex issues effecting their daily lives.

My approach is based on listening, understanding and activation. Listen to understand and propel you into change. I use three basic approaches: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness. I integrate other modalities when necessary. CBT: to discover the thoughts and beliefs that affect your emotions and behaviors. EFT: to help you stop avoiding emotions and use them as carriers of information essential to your mental health. Mindfulness to bring a different way of being in the world, deal with stress and develop a dynamic relationship with your environment.

Welcome! Whether your difficulties are new or longstanding, reaching out to a psychologist may generate both nervousness and hope. If you have been experiencing burnout, anxiety or high levels of stress, low mood or prolonged sadness, uncertainty, low self-worth; struggling in a significant relationship ; or going through grief, I would be honored to help you. Such emotional struggles, although not uncommon, may impede your ability to live a fulfilling and meaningful life, experience joy, and meet your personal goals. By deciding to seek support, you are one step closer to achieving the positive changes you envision for yourself.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
