Evening & Weekend Availability! Do you feel mentally and emotionally drained, even though you’re still showing up and getting things done? Are you functioning on the outside, but running on empty inside? Many of the clients we work with come to therapy because they’re tired of carrying so much on their own. They may be dealing with burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, life transitions, or relationship stress, and want a space where they can slow down, think clearly, and feel understood without judgment.

Even highly capable people can find themselves stuck in anxiety, emotional pain or patterns that no longer make sense. With over 30 years of clinical experience—and 17 years as a university professor of clinical psychology—I work with adults and couples to understand and resolve the deeper emotional and relational roots of distress. My focus is on creating meaningful, lasting change rather than short-term symptom management, helping clients move toward greater stability, clarity and emotional freedom.

Are you tired of trying to change, only to end up feeling stuck or discouraged? Many of us carry emotional burdens—people-pleasing habits, self-doubt, critical inner voices—that quietly shape our lives. We read the books, try the strategies, but lasting change feels just out of reach. It’s not a lack of willpower. It’s the nervous system doing its best to protect us, even when those old strategies no longer serve us. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand these patterns, and gently make room for something new.

For OCD, I use both EMDR and ERP in a specialized protocol.
I help moms with postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, perinatal OCD, birth trauma and traumatic perinatal grief with EMDR therapy. The pregnancy journey and postpartum season hits different when conceiving and birth didn't go as planned. If the thought of getting pregnant again is terrifying (even though you truly want to), you catch yourself checking 100 times if the baby is still breathing, are terrified of viruses, or feel like you're reliving your difficult pregnancy or birth experience through nightmares and intrusive thoughts, know you are not alone.

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviours that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioural therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioural change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
