You may feel exhausted, anxious, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, even if you’ve “handled worse” before. Survival kept you going. Now something in you may be asking for more. I offer a supportive space to understand yourself with compassion, regulate your nervous system, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels safe. Thriving doesn’t mean fixing yourself, it means coming home to who you already are.

I have over 15 years of experience helping adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, stress and self-esteem.
With 15+ years' experience across the public and private sectors, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals and communities. I began my journey in the world of Science, driven by a desire to understand how things work. Over time, that same curiosity expanded to the most complex system of all - people. This led me to transition into Psychology and Counselling, where I could explore human behaviour more deeply and meaningfully. Throughout my career, the focus has remained the same: genuine listening to help support behavioural shifts & individual understanding while improving communication within partnerships.

I believe therapy works best when it feels both supportive and intentional. My style is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you move forward—not just feel better in the moment, but create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to offer a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood, while also working together toward clear goals. Sessions are conversational with a balance of reflection, skill-building, and practical takeaways you can apply between sessions. Therapy with me is an active process. We’ll look at patterns and work on building insight and practical skills you can use in everyday life.

I am the Treasurer of the Board of CAPT (Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapists). I've come to this professional life as a therapist after years as an English instructor (ESL), server, and professional musician. Many of us these days are feeling depressed and/or anxious about life and how to move forward. I know that it requires courage to trust another person with your story, but there is so much to be gained from speaking about it. Together, we can work to discover a deeper sense and better understanding of who you are. When you're ready, I'll be ready as well and we can work to change your life for the better.

I help fellow gay men just like you understand their emotions better, heal from past trauma, and grow their sense of self-worth so that they can enjoy living fully as themselves.
Are you a gay man who is overwhelmed by the intensity of your feelings? Do certain situations feel triggering or remind you of a past trauma? It can feel unbearable when you’re just trying to keep it together, and hoping nobody notices when you start breathing rapidly, sweating, or shaking. Even between intense moments, there can be a low-level anxiety that feels like it’s always lurking, ready to take over at any time. Not to mention the shame about not feeling in control of your responses. The good news is that there are specific skills that can be learned to listen to your emotions and think about your past in a whole new way.

I support individuals and couples navigating anxiety, ADHD, and mood concerns, along with challenges related to self-esteem, codependency, and stress.
Therapy doesn’t always need to go deep to be meaningful, sometimes you just need someone who truly understands. You might not be in crisis, but something feels off. Maybe you’re going through the motions, questioning what’s missing, or feeling stuck in patterns you can’t quite shift. You might notice old experiences showing up in your relationships or confidence in ways that don’t feel good. My approach is warm, real, and down-to-earth. I offer a space where you can show up as you are, feel understood, and start making sense of what’s going on, without pressure or pretense.

I am a licensed couple and family therapist and psychotherapist. In 2019, I was the recipient of the clinical excellence award for couple and family therapy from McGill University. I received a Master's in psychology in 2009. My area of focus is on helping people understand their relationship patterns and helping them build more meaningful and stable connections with others. I understand that right now you may feel that as though you have too much on your plate and that you are struggling to balance all of life's demands. Many people do not take the time to focus on themselves and invest in their emotional well- being.

You’ve been navigating life’s highs and lows with thoughtfulness and care. But maybe you’re feeling stuck, carrying more than your fair share, or struggling to stay calm in the chaos. Perhaps you’ve been navigating unique challenges as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, TCK or a neurodivergent individual, looking for a space where your experiences are truly understood. Maybe you find yourself giving so much to others that you have nothing left for yourself. You want to feel more confident, more at ease and in touch with your purpose, and even though you know what you have to do, it can be hard to take the first step on your own.

If anxiety, depression, chronic stress, or relationship issues are weighing on you, you’re not alone. Many people find themselves stuck in cycles of overthinking, emotional exhaustion, conflict, or self-doubt, unsure how to break patterns that no longer serve them. You might feel disconnected from your values, overwhelmed by life transitions, or stretched beyond your current coping capacity. I approach therapy with compassion, cultural awareness, and the belief that meaningful change begins when you feel truly seen, heard, and understood.

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
