Therapy is a powerful way to face the difficulties inherent in being human. Although many of us learn to avoid pain, few of us learn the road to more lasting relief. Together, we will bring clarity to your inner thoughts, feelings and hopes as you actualize a more peaceful and purposeful life. Drawing from my training and experience, we'll devise a unique plan to develop strategies toward achieving your goals. "

"I work with adults who come to me with a variety of challenges. They may be struggling to cope with grief and loss, or are feeling confused about a relationship, or are finding anxiety increasingly hard to manage. I work with folks to bring patterns to light while building new ways of being in relationship to others and feelings together. I love working with feelings - and the people who have them. Whether your feelings are big, bold, and out loud, or you're struggling to articulate or find them, I am glad to sit with you and explore them together."

"Good for you for taking steps towards taking care of yourself. Maybe you recognized that things haven't felt quiet right or that you're not at your best. Perhaps your relationships aren't going as you want them to and you find yourself in the same troublesome scenarios, whether it is with family, peers, partners, or in a work environment. You may be feeling lonely and hopeless that things will ever change. You may feel overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, or feel that you'll never be good enough. Happiness, satisfaction and enjoyment may feel miles away, but there is hope."

"The reality is that every life is full of ups and downs. Our challenge in the short time each of us has on this planet is to make the most of it by relishing in the ups – and working through the downs so we can come out on the other side as a better, happier and more enlightened person. Which is where I come in. I’m a registered social worker, psychotherapist. I am also a lawyer who formerly practiced family law for almost 10 years. My passion as a therapist is to help people live their authentic life and make sense of the challenges they encounter along the way. "

"When children are going through a hard time, they don’t always have the words to tell us how they feel. Instead, play can be thought of as children's language for expressing difficult and complex emotions. As a therapist, I work with children to use play to communicate their inner worlds and to help them to feel better. Common difficulties that children face include adjusting to changes in their family, struggles with separating from parents, coping with a traumatic or frightening experience and having a hard time in their relationships at home, school or with friends. "Do you feel isolated and awkward, even with friends? Do others effortlessly appear to connect in friendship, while you often feel yourself to be an outsider and different? Those closest to you may be unaware of your suffering, believing you to be ‘just fine’. Our relationships are vital for feeling good in our skins, for feeling supported, validated and most of all, safe. When instead they are superficial and stressful, we can suffer anxiety and even depression. Unable to be authentically ourselves with others, we fail to forge satisfying connections. Life can seem dull and pointless, the hard parts profoundly lonely."

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Psychodynamic therapy in M4E, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in M4E are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counsellor in M4E you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counselling or couples counselling in M4E and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counselling in M4E or family therapy in M4E.
