Despite your best efforts to be a good parent, you feel like you are failing. You are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and exhausted. Our experiences coping with Covid-19 can certainly be defined as traumatic stress, with heightened emotional responses, increased stress levels, feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and a loss of security. Many have needed to take on more roles and responsibilities. Perhaps teaching your kids, continuing to work, and struggling to maintain a harmonious relationship with your partner during these turbulent times. Traumatic stress can bring up upsetting emotions, memories and anxiety that won’t go away. It can also cause us to feel numb, disconnected, and with a sense of powerlessness.
