Somatic experiencing (SE), play and art based modalities, Mindfulness, ACT, CBT, Reiki, and Internal family system (IFS) informs my therapeutic approach.
Hi, my name is Tiffany I am thrilled and honoured to be part of your healing journey. It is my soul’s belief that through collaboration and connection we can begin to heal. My therapeutic style is curated for individuals who seek spiritually integrated, body-centred and inner child processing. By creating a safety container, it is my hope to unravel the parts of you that long to be witnessed, understood, and validated. The part of you that is exhausted. The part of you that feels neglected. The part of you that longs for deep connection. The part of you that doesn’t know where to start but ended up here.

Art and play therapy allows for a more rounded therapeutic experience as what can’t or won’t be said can either be drawn or expressed in art or through play.
We have all experienced difficulties and trauma in our life. As a certified art therapist including talk and play, I provide a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere for teens and adults. My focus is on trauma, anxiety, and emotional regulation yet also provide family support wether it be working towards healing together or apart. I predominantly use IFS, DBT/CBT, and EMDR. I have worked in the mental health field for over 30 years with all ages in schools, CAS group home placement, in shelters, on city streets, and in private practice.

I use activating-experiential means (role play, practice experiment, art ), applying brain research, attachment/developmental psychology, analytic-interpretive processing (psychodynamic); C/DBT; trauma treatment; ‘internal self-state’; play therapy.
My background holds 40yr of extensive practice experience and continued learning. Expertise:all relationship concerns; recovery/healing from emotional hurts, losses, trauma. Such events, if in early years, can instill persistent insecurity, fears, loneliness and grief, causing troubled close relationships and inner-life: Restricting our core resilient nature where we keep strong potentials to be more open, creative, confident, realistic/effective persons. Mainly treat “self-regulation” problems: Social anxiety, shame/guilt, anger, depression; Overdependencies; Intimacy-sexuality, Communication; Identity-Personality issues;Selfcare.

It can be hard watching our child struggle whether it be with anxiety, fear, anger, big emotions, loss, trauma or significant life changes and if any of this is resonating with you I believe you are in the right place. As a Certified Play Therapist my approach to therapy allows children of all ages to use their natural language of play to process and communicate their inner world in a safe environment where they feel seen, heard and understood. And yes - we can do all of this while also having fun!

You are feeling overwhelmed in life - your emotions, thoughts, and circumstances are becoming overbearing. Pulling away from others to try to deal with these issues is no longer working. You find yourself having more “bad” days than good. It’s getting harder to depend on yourself to cope and make it through one more day. Whether you are dealing with work or school stress, relationship stress, loss, or new developments in life, I can help you in finding your way again.

Do you know the feeling where you just don't know what to do or say? Maybe it is your child grappling with someone bullying them at school. Maybe you and your partner are feeling totally unsure how to be the parents and partners you both want to be. Maybe something tragic and life changing has happened and things are indescribably different - in ways you never wanted. Maybe you are seeing your teen shrink away from life in ways that seem totally out of character. Somehow your own life - your own family, your own children, your own choices - can feel like a mystery.

Have you noticed a sense of longing to feel more connected to your body, to the land, or in your relationships? Are you experiencing anxiety, grief, loneliness, or trauma? Trauma can live in the body as disrupted patterns of relating: to ourselves, our bodies, our breath, and the world around us. Somatic therapy is a practice in re-connecting to those things that remind us of our aliveness and can help us build a sense of home in our bodies and our world. This work is gentle, and centers the experience of the nervous system in therapy, drawing from arts, play, spirituality, compassion-focused and nature-based approaches.

I am a Certified Play Therapist, and use play to help children communicate, explore, and resolve their problems.
I see children and families for a variety of reasons. Generally speaking, people come to me because they are ready to improve their quality of life, relationship with other family members, or heal from some form of experience. I may see individuals and families to help with emotional regulation, behavioural challenges, increase coping skills, or to improve communication and reduce conflict. My service approach is geared towards the individual goals and needs of the family. Often families come to me because they want some form of individual or family function to change. I can help through either talk therapy and/or play therapy.

Play Therapy Counsellors

Who is play therapy for?

Play therapy is generally targeted to children between the ages of 3 and 11 who have social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties. Play therapy has also been found helpful for children who have experienced physical or emotional abuse or witnessed atrocities. Play therapy is also often recommended for children who are undergoing major medical procedures or who are suffering from chronic illness; many children’s hospitals are equipped to offer play therapy on-site. Play therapy is also sometimes used for adults; creative writing, music, and art are expressive forms that can all be adapted for therapeutic purposes.

Why do people need play therapy?

Children often do not have the language skills or words to know or to express what is troubling them. Yet they often spontaneously draw or use playthings to depict scenarios that reflect problems in their everyday life. Play therapy provides children with an array of objects and play situations to act out their feelings or experiences so that therapists can get a clear picture of what children might be struggling with and help them find solutions. In addition, play therapists are skilled at helping children understand their inner experience and find words for them, necessary steps toward helping children learn to control their own behaviour and come up with solutions to problems they encounter.

What happens in play therapy?

A child enters a comfortable playroom where they are free to choose the objects they want to play with. The play therapist will typically observe how they play with the toys—whether a sandbox, puppets, dolls and action figures, trucks, costumes, drawing and painting materials, or more—because such play provides clues to a child’s family and social relationships, difficulties they are encountering in the world, and what going on inside themselves. Sometimes the therapist may ask the child to use the play objects to tell a story about their family. Using the same instruments of play, therapists can help children discover more advantageous ways of thinking and behaving.

What kinds of problems do play therapists treat?

Play therapy can help children who display destructive or self-destructive impulses; children who seem angry, sad, or fearful; children who experience frequent social, emotional, family, or school difficulty. Play therapy is often of value to children who have experienced a loss or distressing family experience, who are regularly exposed to family conflict, or who have been physically or emotionally abused. Play therapy can help children who are perpetrators of bullying as well as those who are targets of bullying. It helps children learn to identify their feelings, to express them in constructive ways, and to regulate them so they can get on with the business of development.

How long does play therapy last?

Play therapy sessions may last for 30 to 45 minutes, and they usually occur weekly for about 20 sessions. Each session is tailored to the individual child and the kinds of problems they are struggling with. Play that is highly repetitive often indicates a problem requiring further exploration. Therapists typically measure progress through session-to-session changes in play behaviour.
