While the idea of counselling and opening up to someone may be a scary picture, it does not need to be. You do not need to face your situation alone. It is not just for people with ‘serious’ issues; everyone has problems and needs someone to walk alongside them. Counselling is one way people can start to find healing and be able to make sense of their situation. My approach to counselling keeps the client in charge of their story; they are completely in control of what to share or not share and how they want their journey to progress.
I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach founded on Carl Rogers’ person-centered therapy. I incorporate EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy), SFBT (Solution-Focused Brief Therapy), AT (Attachment Theory), and IPNB (Interpersonal Neurobiology). Trauma-sensitive care is also interwoven throughout my therapeutic approach.
Everyone has a story to tell, and everyone is worthy of being heard... Counselling can help you connect experiences, feelings, and beliefs with your relationships, distress, and issues in order to empower you in figuring out what steps to take.
