I am a trauma specialist. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults. I am currently offering Face to Face sessions making use of a large office. I do offer video conference through Microsoft Teams. I am utilizing EMDR and Trauma Focused CBT. You can be assured that the treatment modalities that I use are grounded in best practices to ensure that you will see positive changes in your life. I graduated with a Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1993, so I have a solid track record of Clinical Social Work Employment in the community and my Private Practice.
I utilize two main treatment modalities. EMDR helps you to process disturbing events and clear the trauma you have experienced in your life. TFCBT helps to challenge negative thoughts and create a trauma narrative. I also use EMDR Flash Technique developed by Pillip Manfried. It helps to painlessly reduce the trauma disturbance without focusing on the trauma
I enjoy working with people and working with their strengths. I make sure that you are given coping skills. Often I will develop a calm place with you that you can envision during stressful circumstances outside of therapy. Therapy is concluded with a container exercise that helps you feel calm and relaxed.
