I often work with people who want to make a shift from worry and panic, avoidance and withdrawal, overcontrol and rigidity, pleasing and appeasing, and criticism and defensiveness.
My therapeutic approach focuses on understanding and changing ways of relating—alone and in the presence of others. Relating includes the ways we think about, and physically respond to, what is imagined. What we imagine is often linked to what we have learned to predict and want to control.
I will work with you to change through self-understanding, openness to experience, acceptance, mindfulness, humour, compassion, changing thinking, and shifting from defense to more mindful and compassionate stances. I primarily use integrated psychodynamic and process-based CBT approaches.
There is no wrong place to start and I am happy to meet with you from a nonjudgmental place.
I have completed PhD-level training in hospital and private clinics, across anxiety, mood, and personality clinics. I have experience with CBT, Acceptance and Commitment, Compassion-Focused, and process-oriented psychodynamic approaches.
