I take an existential approach to help people explore questions of meaning at intersections of their identity, find ways to reassess and affirm personal values, and collaborate with clients in re-writing the narratives that we've been told to follow so that we may discover personal liberation, resolve relationship conflicts, and build solidarity and community. My view is that therapy is a collaborative healing relationship and that clients are, in the words of Irvin Yalom, "fellow travelers." Working with clients of all backgrounds, I have a special focus on those in the queer, polyamorous, kink, and sex positive communities.
I have a Ph.D and MA in Critical Psychology and a second MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My specialization is in Existential Psychotherapy and I also integrate Humanistic approaches, Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. I am also a founding member of Polyamory Therapy Collective.
Having struggled with ADHD, anxiety, and depression, I combine my lived experience with my theoretical work to extend empathy to my clients so we can build solidarity and collaboratively create meaning in a world where so many of us are suffering. What I want to stress most is that you're not alone because that is what has helped heal me.
