Did you lose someone you love? I was a counsellor with 30 years experience as a therapist and clinical supervisor when I traumatically lost my father and my son within months of each other. I felt that the pain of my own grief would destroy me. All the information on grief that I had studied while obtaining my masters had to be re-learned. An important part of my journey in healing involved having my pain and isolation witnessed by a counsellor who had survived their own grief. I eventually came to adjust to my new reality. I eventually learned how to honour and maintain connection with my son and dad with more love than pain.
After processing my own traumatic and complicated grief, I learned from grief experts David Kessler and Alan Woefelt and became a grief mentor and facilitator of grief groups (Hospice, TCF, Life in the Trenches, Healing Hearts). I do grief work with ICBC, CVAP, hospice. Specialities: complicated grief, trauma, anxiety, PTSD, life transitions, and burnout.
I understand the courage it takes to face your grief head-on. Trying to stay busy and ignore your loss may look like you have healed but it may later show up in your body. It is healthier to process it in a safe place with someone who understands. I hope to accompany you through your process, at your own pace and help you adjust to life after loss.
