Integrating Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, inner child work, yoga and mindfulness and several other modalities I foster a safe, healing environment where you set the pace.

As an ADHD'er with an ADHD kid, I help kids, teens and adults thrive in a neurotypical world by exploring, embracing and working with their ADHD brain.
We often think that if we change something about our external world- a partner, a job, a house- we will find the happiness & peace that evades us; but change & healing happen by exploring our inner world. I help you examine and deconstruct the stories you tell yourself about yourself - where did these stories come from, and which ones need re-authoring?

Diverse brains and identities are welcome! I am a member of the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA).
I believe therapy allows people to share their stories and feel their emotions in an environment that is safe and considers their unique needs. I strive to validate people’s emotions (because they are understandable), to highlight their strengths (because sometimes people can’t see them) and to build hope (because it can be restored).

I also bring specialized training in ADHD, which can impact your relationship.
You’re really struggling. You’re angry, you’re sad, and you’re afraid. Some days you’re shouting (even if only inside your own head!), and sometimes there’s just this heavy, heavy silence. Maybe you both dig-in and hold your positions, or maybe one of you runs and the other chases, only to repeat the drama tomorrow, next week, or next month. Negativity seems to rule your relationship and you’re both walking on eggshells. And after months and months (or is it years and years?) it’s gotten to the point where you’re wondering if your relationship is beyond repair.

Adults finding ADHD symptoms are impairing their personal relationships and/or professional role may need new coping strategies.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I use body-based Somatic practices. Young adults struggling with increasing independence, or couples establishing boundaries are areas we can address together. Supporting difficult transitions has been core to my career, whether helping incarcerated youth set a new life path or leadership teams launching organizational change.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
