My client work is informed by collaborative principles, as I use elements from compassion focused, emotional focused, feminist, trauma-informed and person-centered therapies.
I’m so glad you’re here! Starting therapy is a big deal, and finding the right therapist is key. My name is Michelle, and I am passionate about working with young adults (ages 20-35) who are navigating difficult life transitions, academic pressures, workplace stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. My clients are curious about exploring their own strengths and feel motivated to build new strategies to improve their situations and overall mindsets. I also have significant experience supporting caregivers with aging parents who have complex physical and mental health issues.

Narrative, Person-Centered, Somatic, and Existential Therapies, among others, inform my personal practice model.
I believe it's always possible to reconnect with our strengths, joys, values, and desires, even in times when we feel stuck: when it's particularly hard to see the meaning in our lives, when feelings of regret outweigh feelings of acceptance, when shame and anxiety hold us back from engaging with ourselves and our loved ones. In my work with you, I want to point out those sacred parts of yourself that might have been forgotten. I want to help you see the different paths you can take, and be alongside you as you choose and move forward.

I use a person-centered, humanistic approach within therapy that addresses present day issues and connects these issues to self-worth, attachment history, and childhood experiences.
Each time you feel let down, disappointed, discouraged or despondent it’s not permanent.  There’s another breath of air where you can exhale that feeling, shake out your body and know that you have another chance to heal, to grow and to transform.  Even after the same mistakes or misgivings, you are not the same. You’ve learned something. You’re not the same person each time you get caught doing the same thing over again.  It’s okay to be learning. Growth is painful as we let go of the old ways of being, the old destructive thoughts and allow new ways of being to take root.

I am person-centered, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive, using diverse strategies to help you empower yourself.
Your spirits are low, you’re stressed, you're sometimes confused, and the voice in your head can be unkind. Patterns and wounds from childhood are still with you. Sometimes you can’t tell the difference between “rational” and “irrational” fear. There are things you wanted to achieve by now and you don't know where to push and where to give yourself grace. Your self-improvement to-do list is long but it's hard to make change. You are coming to therapy because you want to talk without holding back, to experience compassion, and to gain new skills for living more sustainably and joyfully.

My approach to therapy is holistic, solution-focused, and person-centered.
I believe that we are ALL survivors of trauma. When we go through a traumatic experience, whether it's small or big, a part of us remains stuck in the experience. We hold onto unintegrated emotions and negative beliefs about ourselves. As a result, we tend to attract and get triggered by situations that remind us of these difficult experiences - until we are able to heal. Through various techniques, most notably EMDR, we can work with these unintegrated parts of the self to desensitize and reprocess these experiences and memories. The client can be freed of these patterns and stories and achieve their therapeutic goals.

I use an integrated approach drawing from Relational Cultural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and psychodynamic Therapy.
Do you feel like you don’t know how to ask for help, or feel like you have no one to turn to? Do you feel like there’s a part of your identity that you need to explore? Have you tried other therapists before and it felt too stuffy or like you didn’t ‘click’? Hi, I’m Steph and I see you, thank you for being here. I am here to remind you that it is okay to be feeling exactly how you feel, all of your feelings are valid. I bring my whole self to our sessions with a grounded, curious and kind demeanor and really focus on fostering a genuine therapeutic relationship with you. I believe that therapy should feel less clinical and formal.

I work from a non-judgemental, collaborative, and person-centered stance.
I appreciate that change is hard. Therapy–– facing fears, trying new behaviours and learning alternate coping skills––can often feel uncomfortable. I also believe that our values and aspirations can help us move forward when the going gets tough. So, to make the hard work of therapy worthwhile, I will collaborate with you to uncover what makes your unique life meaningful. We will examine barriers to your meaningful life and develop a plan to overcome them.

Hello, my name is Janel Led. I understand how difficult life can be and I am fully invested in helping you explore internal and external factors that might be causing you to feel stuck. Through creating personalized and meaningful goals in a non-judgmental and person-centered environment, together we can start to challenge some of those self-defeating beliefs to create a more positive outlook. Furthermore, I strongly believe the client is the expert/main character in their own life, and as such, has the power within to change views of self, others, and the world if given the right environment to do so.
