I work with adults navigating profound transitions, including love, sex, partnership, parenting, divorce, trauma, dating, custody changes, relocation, and rebuilding after loss or rupture.
I work individually & relationally, specializing in ENM, polyamory, and monogamy under strain during identity or relational change. Individually, we build self-trust, boundaries, and values clarity. Relationally, we explore attachment, communication, and repair. I work with the understanding that emotions and behaviour are complex and life is rarely linear.

I work with people who are feeling stuck either through the result of a recent event or due to long-standing issues that are now causing distress. Many of the people I work with struggle with anxiety, substance use concerns or have a history of trauma. Some of my clients are looking for short-term Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions while others have tried brief therapy and are looking for longer term psychodynamically oriented treatment to make change at a deeper level. Sometimes people don't have clearly defined goals for treatment other than they want to feel better. That's okay.

Our therapists often hear from clients who say, "I'm aware of what I need to do, but I struggle to take action." This sentiment may resonate with you. It's normal to feel unsure and anxious during times of crisis, family conflict, relationship issues, or any significant life changes. However, if these emotions hinder your progress, ignoring them won't make them go away. It's crucial to acknowledge your fears, pinpoint their origins, and take proactive steps to overcome them for your well-being.

You may feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in painful relationship patterns, disconnected from yourself, or exhausted from constantly carrying stress, anxiety, or self-doubt beneath the surface. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware, yet still find themselves repeating patterns in relationships, struggling to communicate their needs, or feeling lonely and misunderstood. Therapy can help you better understand yourself, navigate relationships more clearly, and feel more grounded, confident, and connected in your life.

As humans we have a deep need to find connection. One of the most challenging things we can face is difficulty being seen and building relationship . Our routes to connection are forged in the relationships we first learn from, early in our lives. Finding our way through what that means for our current reality can be hard to do alone. Together we will explore what came before and what may be next, without losing sight of life now. Sometimes this means sitting in the muck with you; with the trauma, or the depression or the anxiety, and finding a way through; building new pathways of relationship and of being in the world.

With over 20 years of experience, I work with people of all ages who are ready to explore, heal, and transform. Children, teens, adults, and seniors have all found their way to my practice, and what meets each of them is the same: a warm, creative space where they don’t have to have the right words to begin. As a passionate artist myself, I felt drawn to art as a modality for healing long before I had the language for why. My clients often arrive carrying grief, trauma, anxiety, or the quiet exhaustion of creeping burnout. Some are navigating major life transitions. All are looking for a way through.

I believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. I have helped hundreds of individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As a relational therapist, I appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. I do not see clients as having something wrong with their minds that necessarily needs to be fixed. Rather, I see my clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. I see strengths and I see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
