In addition to my clinical education and training, my prior career as a lawyer - where I served clients from various backgrounds through significant legal challenges - continues to inform how I combine empathy, humility, courage and critical thought in my psychotherapeutic practice.
Stuck, burned out, or disconnected from yourself or your partner? Most men and couples I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, resentful, on edge, or unsure of their purpose. Whether you’re navigating a relationship impasse, a life transition, fatherhood stress, or pressure to “keep it together,” you don’t have to figure it out alone. I support men, individuals, and couples struggling with communication issues, conflict, emotional shutdown, anger, grief, anxiety, and identity concerns.

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, or difficulties managing school or work related stress? My focus is on providing a caring, non-judgmental and safe space for clients to share their stories and work through their challenges. I believe that there is no “one-size-fits-all” method to supporting clients, and trust the client is the expert of their own life. I also understand the importance of developing a collaborative therapeutic relationship and strive to help my clients to recognize their existing strengths, while acknowledging their unique needs, priorities and values.

I work with adults and couples to help them move towards a state of continued growth, compassion, and self-awareness in a way that is collaborative, strengths-based, and empowering. I believe in creating a client-therapist relationship that fosters authenticity, support, and space for both acceptance, and for change. This can begin in our very first session. Together, we can begin to tease apart the adaptive approaches to dealing with and moving through life you've grown accustomed to, and begin to decipher which of these patterns are serving you, and which you may be interested in moving beyond.

Our therapists often hear from clients who say, "I'm aware of what I need to do, but I struggle to take action." This sentiment may resonate with you. It's normal to feel unsure and anxious during times of crisis, family conflict, relationship issues, or any significant life changes. However, if these emotions hinder your progress, ignoring them won't make them go away. It's crucial to acknowledge your fears, pinpoint their origins, and take proactive steps to overcome them for your well-being.

Males young and old experience anxiety, depression, trauma and other mood issues, though are less likely to seek help. ADHD and LD’s disproportionately affect males, disrupting their goals and relationships. Young males must navigate contradictory messages about what it means to be a man while managing their own emotional health. These issues tend to be at their worst during transitional life stages, such as changing schools, entering the workforce, middle life, and in new relationships.

Life is hard. Work, family, relationships - you name it - it can all pile up. It gets heavy sometimes, and the hardest part of it all is that we’re usually just left to deal with it alone. Sometimes by choice, other times not so much. But I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to go through it all on your own. I have experience with clients who feel angry, stressed, burnt out, and overwhelmed. Together, we can figure out what's on your mind, big stuff or small, no judgment, no pressure, no worries. Listen, it takes courage to be vulnerable, and the fact that you're here means you've already found that courage.

If you're on a spiritual path, or want to be more real in your relationships and career, please see my website and YouTube videos for more information.
We're born into a world of stories about reality and about us. Our friends and our parents tell them to us. School, work and media tell them to us. And we start telling them to ourselves. In a time of mass media deception, false role models, unreal images, and dysfunctional families, our inner truth gets more and more hidden. The re-discovery of who we are is crucial for living a meaningful life. In Groundwork we become co-coonspirators in finding the real story about you, finding the authentic grounds of your existence, and helping you choose to be real.

We often serve clients navigating ADHD, Career Stress & Burnout, High-Functioning Anxiety, Low Self-Esteem, Trauma and Relationship Issues of any kind.
You’ve worked hard—degrees earned, promotions won, goals achieved. But instead of feeling proud, you’re stuck in burnout. Late nights, racing thoughts, and a never-ending to-do list have you running on fumes. Maybe ADHD has you juggling too much, and now it’s all crashing down. Or imposter syndrome keeps whispering that you’re not enough, no matter what you accomplish. You’re too busy to add one more thing to your plate. You wonder if therapy will actually stick or if it’s just another thing that doesn’t work, asking yourself, what’s the point of being “aware” if nothing really changes? Therapy gives you more than just awareness.

Career Guidance Counsellors

How do I know if I need career counselling?

Determining whether a career counsellor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counselling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counsellor.

Who can benefit from career counselling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counselling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counselling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counsellor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counselling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counselling typically last?

The length of career counselling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counselling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counsellor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counselling?

Clients can prepare for career counselling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counsellor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counsellor, particularly if the career counsellor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counselling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
