I work from an eclectic approach, drawing on these modalities as well as psychodynamic and
attachment-based
lenses.
I have worked primarily with young adults who have experienced a range of challenges, which include stress management, self-esteem, work/school-life balance, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, emotional intelligence, difficult childhood memories, and difficult life transitions. I also have experience working with children who have struggled with similar challenges as well as bonding/attachment difficulties to parent(s)/guardian(s). I find great fulfillment in working alongside children to enhance their interpersonal connections and help provide a sense of self-confidence and autonomy.

A lot of the time, our first instinct is to seek support when we may feel we are drowning in our current struggles. The first step is always the hardest, in where we fear we will not be understood. My belief is that because each one of us is unique, our struggles and thus our journey in healing will be too. I aim to be an anchor in these turbulent times and be a beacon of unfiltered, unconditional and non-judgemental space in exploring our internal processes. In collaboration, we can address motivational, acceptance, behavioural, cognitive, social, biological and cultural aspects that can work in tandem in maintaining our struggles.

Clients who want to dig deeper and understand the root of their reactions/concerns are clients who tend to love therapy with me. For these clients, it's about the experience of self-understanding, compassion, and clarity that leads to healing. Clients who need someone to understand where they are coming from, who do not want advice or opinions, rather to be heard and understood and to understand themselves better.

No concern or thought is too small or large to be explored in therapy. I understand that life can bring us suffering, pain, loss, and other experiences that we oftentimes struggle to manage. My goal is to provide a safe space to explore & process your thoughts, emotions, & life situations, no matter how big or small. I understand that each individual's story is unique, & I allow for discovery to occur in a fully confidential, non-judgemental space.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
