Now Accepting New Clients. For over twelve years, I worked with children, parents, and families as a behavioural therapist working with ASD. This has led me to now support children, teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety,
ADHD
, OCD, emotional regulation and eating disorders. I’m also currently specializing in couples and family work targeting co-parenting, communication, disconnection, blended families and amicable separation. I use a holistic, integrative approach to therapy and am trained in CBT, ACT and Gottman. I also like to incorporate hands-on activities and art therapy into my work.

Some of the issues which may be addressed and alleviated through counselling include stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief,
ADHD
(children and adults), and self-esteem.
Life is full of challenges, and some are more manageable than others. You may be feeling overwhelmed by an issue that you can identify but have no idea how to tackle. Alternatively, you may be discontented or anxious with no idea why; you just know something isn't right. You may even be wondering if it's "all in your head." No matter how you feel or what you're struggling with, it is possible to get yourself back on track and begin to enjoy life again. The power to change is within you.

I work with both teens and adults experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma (including childhood trauma and racial trauma), posttraumatic stress disorder,
attention deficit
disorder (
ADHD
), addictions, compulsive behaviours and more. My therapy practice draws from my own experience as a client, the education and training I have attained and my vast work experience. All of this allows me to help my clients better understand the adversities they face, lessen depression and anxiety, process difficult memories, and develop a more loving relationship with themselves.

Life can be really hard. Perhaps you may be ignoring your own needs to please others, which may lead to losing a sense of who you are. Maybe it was a way you coped before, but perhaps it is not helpful anymore. In fact, it may result in feelings of anxiety and stress, and may impact your self-esteem, relationships/social life, boundaries, and asking for what you want. Perhaps you may also be dealing with grief/loss (including the passing of a loved one, or the loss of a relationship or of something meaningful to you), or navigating challenges with adult
ADHD
(as well as unlocking your strengths with this), and other life stressors.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
