Specifically, I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and
Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy.
Therapy is an opportunity to learn more about mental health, to learn more yourself, and to apply that knowledge to make self-directed changes. It can also be a great place to just be heard or validated, and to help you organize your thoughts and ideas in response to stressful situations. Whether you or a family member are living with a serious mental health challenge such as anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, PTSD etc., or just experiencing a hard time adjusting to life's challenges - I've built years of experience working with clients overcome similar challenges in a variety of professional environments.

Now Accepting New Clients. For over twelve years, I worked with children, parents, and families as a behavioural therapist working with ASD. This has led me to now support children, teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety, ADHD, OCD, emotional regulation and eating disorders. I’m also currently specializing in couples and family work targeting co-parenting, communication, disconnection, blended families and amicable separation. I use a holistic, integrative approach to therapy and am trained in CBT,
ACT
and Gottman. I also like to incorporate hands-on activities and art therapy into my work.

We'll use research-supported
acceptance
, mindfulness, self-compassion, and performance-psychology techniques to help bring your BEST self to the spotlight.
Are you often in situations that feel like the spotlight is on you: your body gets heavy, your mind goes blank, and a sense of panic takes complete control? Having to perform can lead to feelings of anxiety or self-doubt. Whether you’re an athlete, performing on stage or in front of the camera, in the boardroom, or in front of your classmates/peers – these moments can feel like all eyes are on you, and that can be terrifying. A traumatic performance experience can replay in your mind, and can even impact the rest of your life. With support, you can begin to regain trust in yourself and move forward with renewed confidence.

Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Welcome! Taking these first steps towards better mental health can feel overwhelming and even scary at times. Showing up for yourself in this way takes courage and vulnerability. Our time together will be based on a foundation of respect and trust as we navigate life’s many ups and downs. In the midst of challenges and adversity, I value levity and light-heartedness. Together we will honour and further develop your personal strengths and inner resources to foster greater resilience within you. Each person’s story and path toward better mental health is unique so I tailor therapy based on your needs, learning style, and personality.

I provide ADHD-affirming, ADHD-adapted and ADHD-informed psychotherapy services including assessment, psychoeducation, ADHD-specific trauma care, and self-
acceptance
.
I work with individuals in the second half of life and I especially enjoy working with adults who have, or suspect they have, ADHD. Clients who choose me are often experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, overwhelm, and perhaps relationship issues. They are often looking to heal from past issues, stop dysfunctional patterns, set boundaries, reduce stress, restore a sense of balance, live in alignment with their values, develop useful strategies, and establish a better relationship with themselves.

I believe everyone has innate wisdom and unique strengths that can be uncovered when trust and
acceptance
are the core of the client-therapist relationship.
My ideal client is ready to begin a new journey of increased self-awareness and healing. We have all experienced traumas, big and small, and a well-suited client to my practice would be curious about the connection between their past and present experiences. Each session is impactful, invites honesty and critical-thought, but mostly feels warm and nurturing. My clients are interested in learning how to shift their relationships with their thoughts and feelings while making concerted efforts to change patterns of behaviour that are less helpful. I enjoy working with engaged and committed individuals.

It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
