You may be feeling emotionally overwhelmed, caught in repeating patterns, or unsure why certain feelings or relationships persist. You might be seeking therapy to address depression, anxiety, the effects of trauma, or difficulties in relationships and self-understanding. You may also be navigating important life transitions such as loss, grief, immigration, or changes in work or studies. Rather than offering quick solutions or ready-made answers, psychoanalytic psychotherapy sustains attentive listening that allows meaning to take shape and supports change as it emerges.

I often use a psychodynamic approach to therapy in the initial sessions, to explore your relational patterns, attachment, and where you learned to think, behave, and feel the way that you do.
If you're dealing with big emotions, anxiety, anger, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, people-pleasing, grief, or fear of rejection, you don't have to figure this out alone. I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship struggles, parenting challenges, BPD, infidelity, betrayal, narcissistic dynamics, CPTSD, childhood wounds, sexual abuse, PTSD, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, and LGBTQ+ concerns. We are wired to seek connection, and our deepest wounds, and our deepest healing, happen in relationship with others. My work helps you find safety, security, and closeness with the people who matter the most.

My approach to therapy is insight-oriented, drawing from Humanistic, Existential, and Psychodynamic therapies while incorporating practical tools from Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when appropriate.
‘Ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that’s how that light gets in’ – Leonard Cohen. Life can feel overwhelming at times, but it is often through our moments of frailty, vulnerability and limitations that we discover our resilience and capacity for healing. Acknowledging these moments and seeking support takes courage, and I would be honoured to help you as you navigate your unique path toward growth and self-discovery.

Hi I'm Patrick, a therapist who helps men break free from the grip of porn addiction and rebuild a healthy, confident relationship with themselves and others. Porn can start as a way to cope with stress, loneliness, or pain -but over time, it can lead to shame, secrecy, and disconnection. I provide a non-judgmental, honest space where we can explore what’s really driving the habit and work toward lasting change. Together, we’ll focus on understanding your triggers, healing the deeper emotional wounds beneath them, and restoring your capacity for real intimacy, purpose, and self-control.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
