As a clinical psychologist, I have spent the last 10 years helping clients overcome and navigate anxiety, OCD, depression, insomnia , and life stressors.
Anxiety can leave us feeling disconnected from the things we find most important, whether it's in the form of overthinking, worrying, or feeling like we are not living up to our own expectations. Eventually, anxiety can pull us away from our family and friends, our work, and our hobbies and interests. I have always been deeply invested in helping clients identify how anxiety may be keeping them stuck and empowering them towards meaningful change.

I collaborate with clients to identify the roadblocks that prevent them from living their best life; one with intention, meaning and happiness. Paying attention to things that are impacting our well-being - trauma, mood instability, sleep disturbance, anxiety/stress, interpersonal concerns, life transitions - is imperative to help us move beyond them.

I believe a small change in just one person doesn’t only change them, it can change relationships, family, community and future generations. Together we will determine goals, as well as identifying what achieving these goals might look like. I will strive to meet your treatment needs in the most effective and efficient way possible. My first priority when introduced to a potential new client or family is to get to know you, and to discuss your hopes in terms of working with me.

Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage. Life can be difficult and suffering is a part of our human experience, but you don't have to go through it alone. I provide a safe space, grounded in acceptance and compassion, for you to share your story. Together we will travel through it to find the awareness that you need to build a better relationship with yourself. My approach is trauma-informed and respectful of your uniqueness. My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in an awareness that the mind, emotions, and body work collaboratively to survive our experiences and express our needs.

Finding the right therapist and committing to psychotherapy isn't easy. If you’re ready to develop insight, self-compassion, and skills, l'm ready to use humour, energy, and warmth to supplement principles from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness, cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and other methods to customize an approach. I work with women aged 18 and up in many stressful circumstances. We target concerns like mood fluctuations, anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, loss, self-esteem, stress management, and much more.

I'm a MA Candidate student working under the supervision of Dr. Krystle Martin. I have experience supporting clients navigating a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, quality of life, etc. I like to use a collaborative, strength-based, trauma-informed approach in therapy wherein we establish goals you wish to work towards during our time together. I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical, Acceptance and Commitment, and Cognitive Process techniques. I also think it important to have open dialogue wherein you can freely explore and be curious about your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Many of the problems we experience in life can be traced back to parts of ourself that are wounded or not properly integrated. I help you to reflect and make sense of your experience, and to work through areas of your life that bring discomfort. In moving through these discomforts/stuck areas in a new way, you release these wounds, become free from their grasp & move into more aligned, embodied & authentic living. We cannot fully integrate (become whole in our life) unless we heal and integrate all parts (this includes shadow work, healing parental and childhood wounds, ego work, sacred sexuality, reprogramming belief systems).

Namaste! I provide individual, relationship and marriage counselling, in a nonjudgmental, relaxed environment. Over the last 35 years I have worked with individuals and couples guiding, teaching and helping them by using an eclectic approach, and a variety of different types of modalities depending on the particular needs of my clients. I also provide family mediation and relationship counselling for couples who have split. I am a sex therapist, working with all couples and individuals. I specialize in many areas, as I believe all issues are connected, so to treat problems in isolation is unrealistic and can be short lived.

We all feel lost sometimes or face life challenges and relationships that can feel overwhelming. Life is tough, but I believe we all have the ability to overcome hardships. Together, we can explore your concerns and past traumas, working towards lasting change that helps you progress toward the person and future you desire and deserve. I believe in a collaborative approach that empowers and motivates you during the therapeutic process. Relationships are hard. When things aren't going well, there's nothing more difficult than trying to deal with another person, especially someone you love. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused, heartbroken and alone. It can get you questioning everything you ever thought was real about your relationship and wonder how you'll ever get things right side up again. Don't give up. I know it's not easy, but it can get better.

Sleep or Insomnia Counsellors

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
