My own life experiences have led me on this journey. Since I can remember I have always had a heart to see people living the life they were meant to live and witness that potential in those that choose to work with me. I have been led to work in many parts of the world from India, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Malawi and right here in Toronto and the Durham Region directly with underprivileged, homeless or at-risk youth, survivors of human trafficking, people from different developmental stages and life transitions including
seniors
in long-term care. Sometimes things happen in life and we do not know how to unpack everything ourselves.

I seek to help clients who suffer from anxiety, grief, depression, have lived through trauma, or struggle with self-esteem, self-forgiveness, and self-kindness. Parents and those in a perinatal period of their life will find particular expertise in my practice. Clients who are willing to actively experiment and question their own perspectives in order to improve their lives will benefit most from therapy with me. I want to help clients find who they really are, to self-actualize and be their genuine selves, leading to mental wellness so that they can thrive.

OPENINGS AVAILABLE Feeling alone, depressed, left out and afraid is a difficult place to be. Especially if no one understands what you are going through. You still have responsibilities (school, family, work and friends), but it's hard to get out of bed most days. If any of this sounds familiar than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) are two therapies that can be of use. CBT helps those who have symptoms that are not trauma based and CPT helps you process traumatic incidents that have left you riddled with anxiety, sadness and difficulty sleeping. Both therapies are good to suit different needs.

Have you been to therapy with little success or change? Are you tired of approaches that focus on symptom management and ignore the deeper reasons as to why you are struggling? My clients are those that are struggling mentally, emotionally, and/or physically (in the case of chronic pain or illness) where conventional methods of therapy haven't worked for them. My clients are those that want freedom in their life. They are those who want to live without the limits of illness and the constraints of their physical, mental, and emotional burdens.

I help parents/guardians who are struggling in silence through parenting stress and having a hard time managing emotional outbursts, wondering what they are doing wrong or not enough, address and figure out who they are, what they want, and how they can have a deeper understanding of their children, thus enhancing their parent-child relationship and decreasing tension and conflict.

How can I find a therapist in Whitby?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
