As an experienced Social Worker and Relationship Therapist, I have been helping people build true connection and security in their relationships for over 20 years.
Relationships are hard. When things aren't going well, there's nothing more difficult than trying to deal with another person, especially someone you love. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused, heartbroken and alone. It can get you questioning everything you ever thought was real about your relationship and wonder how you'll ever get things right side up again. Don't give up. I know it's not easy, but it can get better.

We will look at releasing negative thought patterns, old wounds and strengthen your relationship with yourself.
Intense emotions can pull you into a downward spiral of feeling overwhelmed and lost. It is difficult to face life when you are walking around with a heavy chest or feeling anxious. It is likely that you were never taught how to cope with how you feel or understand why a part of you feels empty inside. It can feel uncomfortable to turn to friends and family, fearing how they may react. I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space, where you can feel heard as you work through difficult emotions. I can provide you with the insight, tools and support you need to bring about healing so that you can approach life in a new way.

I support individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship difficulties, specializing in LGBTQ, immigrant, and racialized communities.
Does life feel controlled by your emotions? Maybe it’s as anxiety: feeling so overwhelmed by stress, worry, or racing thoughts that it feels impossible to slow down. Perhaps you no longer feel the energy or motivation you used to—it’s a struggle to even get out of bed (if you slept at at all). You’re noticing the ways experiences from your past are playing out in your relationships, but don’t know how to change it. It’s like you don’t recognize yourself anymore. Things used to be different, and you want to get back to the kind of life you know is possible. You just need some support to get there.

A client's current identity, history, and diverse background are valuable aspects of the therapeutic relationship .
As a therapist, it is not my place to pass judgment but rather support clients on their journey to understanding how deeply their experiences have impacted their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. This path is not easy nor linear, but it is best traversed with the guidance of an unbiased and empathetic professional by one’s side in a safe therapeutic space. I value empowering and motivating others to meet their goals as I demonstrate the acceptance, genuineness, congruent and unconditional positive regard that I believe they are capable of showing themselves.

You will learn different strategies to help you feel more in control of your mental health, gain the confidence that you deserve as a parent, & build a strong relationship with your child.
Do you have anxiety about your pregnancy or stress about raising your child that affects your mental health? You are not alone! Pregnancy is meant to be a happy time of our lives - a new milestone and a new beginning; however, for many, it can also be a trigger of past negative experiences and be quite challenging at times. It is overwhelming trying to deal with stress and anxiety while you are pregnant. It feels like you have tried everything but things are still not getting better. Although stress is a natural response to challenges, it can take its toll on your mental health when it persists for too long.

Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage. Life can be difficult and suffering is a part of our human experience, but you don't have to go through it alone. I provide a safe space, grounded in acceptance and compassion, for you to share your story. Together we will travel through it to find the awareness that you need to build a better relationship with yourself. My approach is trauma-informed and respectful of your uniqueness. My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in an awareness that the mind, emotions, and body work collaboratively to survive our experiences and express our needs.

Do you experience anxiety, grief, depression, interpersonal relationship issues, or a general feeling of unease or unhappiness with no discernible cause. These are some of the challenges that might have you considering speaking to a mental health professional. The idea of meeting with a stranger to discuss private matters might be unsettling, and there may be a misunderstanding about what therapy can do to help when you are struggling. You need not struggle alone. Therapy can offer a different perspective on your experience, and provide relief of symptoms so that you can live a happier life.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
