It is my firm belief that everyone deserves someone to talk to, and to pour out what has been long kept in their heart, body, mind, spirit, and soul. It is with that belief, that I offer my skills, and trained ear as a counselor, in order to help you navigate through this situation that you are finding yourself going through. You are never alone. Although it may feel like this at this very moment, you are stronger than you think that you are. Real strength, in my opinion, is being able to be vulnerable, being able to disclose a hidden problem or area of great pain, and to deal with this 'head on', and with someone who can help you.

I’m a fortunate man, really enjoying my life and my work. I am well, and I remember not being well; anxious, depressed, traumatized and clinically diagnosed with various psychiatric ailments. Life threw me some awful curves and I’ve experienced the therapy world as a client for many hundreds of hours in several of its forms. I have acted badly and I apologize to those I’ve hurt. I won’t indulge my humility here but I’ll be open if you ask. My practice is built in part on my personal experiences of suffering, change, and growth. I am a Registered Psychotherapist in the Province of Ontario.

Accepting the need for support and finding a therapist can be overwhelming. Congratulations on taking the first step! You’re courageous, strong and already on the right path. When our mental health is suffering, it can be relentless and all-consuming. It interferes with our ability to enjoy life. It changes our perspectives, relationships, and our ability to perform tasks and manage daily stressors, and it often seems impossible to stop. In therapy, you will be met with compassion, empathy and genuine care for your well-being.

Having grown up between two cultures, I have blended the characteristics of Western and Eastern psychotherapy modalities and believe we can eliminate the stigma surrounding therapy by openly discussing mental health and educating ourselves. With keen insights and evidence-based practices, I wish to help individuals navigate challenges, cultivate emotional regulation, and foster healthier relationships by helping them recognize the intricate balance between thoughts, emotions, and feelings.

People have come to Jason when they want to: improve their mental & emotional health, address stressful relationship patterns, receive support during difficult life situations, and want help from a professional in learning about and helping to unpack clouded thoughts and feelings. People who benefit from his work are those who want to better understand the root of their challenges, and who feel making changes are important, but they're needing support in realizing those changes.

Teen Counsellors
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
