Overthinking, anxiety, relationship strain and couples conflict. Many of the people I work with come in feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected and unsure how to move forward in their relationships or personal lives. They're often stuck in patterns of overthinking, self-criticism, communication struggles, or emotional distance. Even when things look "fine" on the outside, they don't feel that way inside. If that resonates, you're not alone, and you don't have to keep managing on your own. I work with individuals and couples in a way that is both reflective and practical.

You grew up being the responsible one — maybe parentified, emotionally neglected, or navigating chaos early in life. You’ve built a good career and independence, but inside you feel tired, disconnected, or like the past keeps catching up. I support high-functioning individuals healing relational wounds in a steady, non-judgmental, nervous-system-informed space. Therapy with me is a chance to slow down, untangle what was inherited versus chosen, and build a life that feels aligned rather than just accomplished.

On the outside you seem to have it all together but inside you're just holding on. Your mind never slows down — overthinking, replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, worrying what others think. Responsibilities and expectations leave little time or energy for yourself. People-pleasing, the pressure to be perfect, and feeling like you're not enough make it hard to trust yourself or feel at home in your own life. Deep down you crave ease, confidence, and the freedom to be yourself without guilt. You wonder if you'll ever feel relief.

You've done a lot of work on yourself. You understand your patterns — often the kind that have been there so long they just feel like personality — and maybe even where they came from. But understanding something in your head and actually feeling free from it in your body are two very different things. The people I work with are self-aware and reflective, and often frustrated that insight alone hasn't been enough to shift how they feel. That's not a failure. It's a sign the healing needs to happen somewhere deeper than language can reach — and it tends to ripple outward into how you parent, how you love, and how you show up.

I am happy to work with an extensive range of clients and organize my practice around providing Client-Centred Therapy grounded in empirically-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, I have lived experience as a first responder and am passionate about addressing the unique challenges associated with fulfilling such roles. In my experience working with people over the last 10 years, I've found that often their challenges are best addressed first and foremost by being heard; this act of listening is a gift that unlocks the resources hidden within.

You might be navigating ADHD, anxiety, or depression and feeling out of step with everyone around you. You might be a parent trying to understand what your child is experiencing, or an adult facing the pressure of school, career decisions, or figuring out who you are. I work with clients of all ages, drawing on my background as both an educator and a therapist to understand not just what you are feeling, but the systems and pressures shaping it. We start with your nervous system, and build from there.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
