As a Registered Social Worker, I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine conversation. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth - blending CBT, DBT, and mindfulness techniques to support you in managing stress, improving relationships, and developing self-awareness. I have been part of many healing journeys and one thing is the same in all of us - healing isn't always linear but together, we'll explore what's getting in the way, honour the pace of your journey, and find strategies that truly fit you.

I offer compassionate therapy for trauma, grief, eating disorders, addictions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexual orientation, serious mental health issues, dissociation, chronic pain, concussions, childhood abuse, relocation issues, sleep, anger or anything else.
I am aware of the link between current issues and past trauma, including how past traumatic events can affect mood, sleep, and relationships, as well as illness and pain within the body. Awareness of how difficult, frightening, or embarrassing it can be to see a counsellor is important to me. I offer In Person, Video, Telephone, or Email counselling.

Support for anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, grief, feeling stuck, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns and issues related to women's health & well-being.
On the outside you seem to have it all together but inside you’re just holding on. Responsibilities, relationships, and expectations leave little time or energy for yourself. You may struggle to set boundaries, feel emotionally disconnected, or be drained by unresolved experiences. Trauma shapes how you see yourself and relate to others, showing up as shame, people-pleasing, low self-esteem or anxiety which can take the form of overthinking, restlessness, or the pressure to be perfect. It affects your emotions, relationships, and sense of self, making it harder to feel at home in your life. You wonder if you’ll ever feel relief.

The unexpected has happened and you are not sure where to turn next, who to talk to and how to best support your child. Traumatic events or personal losses can interrupt our sense of safety and direction. I’ve been lucky enough to play and work with children and youth walking this path who are trying to make sense and make meaning of what has happened. I have a Masters degree in Social Work, and I am a registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW. I’ve been in practice for 25 years and have trained in various approaches including attachment based, EMDR, TFCBT, Mindfulness, Yoga Therapy, MST, and various play and energetic modalities.

Over the last 20 years, I have worked with individuals and families, of all ages, in a variety of different settings. This has ranged from counselling in a family physician's office to front-line child protection and now, I am returning to private psychotherapy practice. The people I work with have often felt uncomfortable or uncertain about seeking help. They tend to have a sense of how they would like life to be different, but are at times, unsure of how to move forward and start the process of change.

We have therapists that offer group, couples, and individual therapy for most mental health and stress related concerns as well as issues with relationships, stress, grief, and life balance.
Life is amazing—how much we endure and still carry on. Kids grow fast, time flies, coworkers test our patience, and we often give others compassion we deny ourselves. We overload our plates when we really need rest. We crave connection yet miss chances right in front of us. Life is short, but we learn so much along the way, and small steps can create massive change.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
