Every client is different so I believe every treatment plan should be tailored to the individual.

Establishing new thinking and behaviour patterns will lead to less anxiety and depression and more positive emotions.
At AnxietyLab RN Psychotherapy I work with kids, adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, OCD and other mental health issues. Feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed with life is hard. It takes the fun out of life and keeps us from doing what we really want and sometimes need to do. Building a relationship and trust with my clients is my number one goal, the foundation of therapy. I always start with a thorough assessment. Once I totally “get” you we can set goals, make a plan, and get to work!

Our wellness is based on a combination of factors. Sometimes we need extra support during uncertain times, whether that is individually or within our relationships. I am most interested in what is meaningful for you and what you want to bring to the therapeutic process to support personal growth so that you can work towards living the life you want to live.

As a therapist I can help to identify patterns in your life, in your behaviour and beliefs that keep you unfulfilled, frustrated, and unhealthy. Freedom can come from the ability to see those patterns with compassion and from choosing a different way forward for yourself. I am a caring, committed person with experience working with individuals and families.

If you're a parent challenged with a child who brings a whole lot of stress and chaos I can help. If you are finding there is more struggle than seems natural, it might be a deeper understanding of your child's personality, and how it intersects with your parenting style that is required. I have developed a program I call Transformative Compassionate Parenting, thru this way of looking at your relationship with your child we can create calm and rational responses, where there once was only explosive emotional outbursts. Reach out for a chat, calm is only a phone call or email away.

Feelings of stress, anxiety and overwhelm can be replaced by the confidence and ease that comes with self-acceptance and more balanced expectations.
Do you worry about what you ‘should’ be doing or feeling? Juggling work and personal commitments can lead you to feel like there’s never enough time to get everything done. Worrying about the future, or looking back on what you could have done better in the past, can feel overwhelming. This cycle of feeling like you’re not living up to your own expectations, or those of other people, can make you feel unsettled, off-balance and like you’re not fully present in your own life.

My clinical focus includes life transitions, grief, anxiety, depression and relationship with food and self.
Hi my name is Jackie. Life has surprises for us that can at times be overwhelming. Having to make decisions and make peace with our choices is not always easy, especially if we are now experiencing the ramifications of such. These decisions can be about whether to stay in a relationship or job or how to live with grief. I do my best to work with you through those feelings. We talk about what it is you feel you deserve and why. Topics of forgiveness of self and/or others, self compassion and grace may arise. Expectations and assumptions of grief can be explored. Secondary losses related to grief is also something that may come up.

I have over 10 years of experience in a variety of mental health settings, with a special interest in anxiety, addictions and physical illness.
Anxiety struggles can be overwhelming, and difficult to overcome alone. So how do we cope when our worries and frustrations are magnified by a worldwide health crisis? You might think “other people have it worse, or my problem is silly”. However, our struggles aren’t measured by the event itself, they are based on the unique lens with which we view our experiences. Do you find yourself trying to escape from life, abusing substances or even feeling ashamed of your behaviour? If you're worried you're not ready or feel hesitant, there's no commitment necessary. Let's explore how we can work together to offer you relief.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
