My ideal clients are people who appear to be functioning well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or emotionally strained on the inside. They may struggle with anxiety, anger, intrusive thoughts, relationship challenges, or long-standing patterns that feel hard to change. Often thoughtful and self-aware, they want more than quick coping strategies. They are looking for a safe, nonjudgmental space to better understand themselves, develop emotional flexibility, and respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and intention.

I founded our group practice, Turning Point Psychological Services with the goal of helping people with anxiety and OCD learn to live their best life.
Do you feel that you are not living your life the way you hoped you would? Are you worried or stressed out? Are you engaged in a constant battle with anxiety or negative, unwanted, intimidating, or embarrassing intrusive thoughts? Are you trying to avoid triggers like places, people, events, or thoughts? Do you feel that you are "putting out fires" instead of dealing with the core issues? Would you like to overcome the obstacles that prevent you from enjoying every day of your life? Maybe you already tried therapy and it didn't work. Yet, you can learn to go through life without such a struggle. We can help you get there.

I believe that when we come to therapy, we have the potential to heal ourselves. We are the masters of our own paths in life. It’s the circumstances in our lives—such as our social environment and various other factors—which can prevent us from living up to our full potential. I believe that through therapy, these hidden potentials can be realized. As a therapist, I act as a facilitator to help my clients see what they already have inside of them, foster self-acceptance, and help them reach their life goals through discovery of the self and of one’s own strengths.

We specialize in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders (Panic, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety, GAD), using CBT, ERP, & ACT approaches.
You may not show it, but you feel stuck. Your anxiety and fears prevent you from taking steps forward. Instead, you find yourself procrastinating and avoiding. You are consumed by doubt and overwhelmed by worry and unwanted, intrusive, uncontrollable thoughts. You try hard to avoid those thoughts, but they keep coming back. The more you fight them, the stickier they become. You try to tell yourself that the thoughts are meaningless, but somehow you feel you can never be sure. What if after all, something horrible will happen? What if the thoughts mean something important? Your friends and family keep telling you not to worry and explain that everything is just in your head. This reassurance helps for a bit, but very soon you are back to endless "What if? " questions. You tried therapy before. The therapist tried to convince you that what you fear is unlikely to happen and taught you relaxation, breathing, meditation, and thought records. But it didn't help and made you even more hopeless. You'd like to break free from your worries and fears and start living your life. If you are reading this profile, you may be finally considering making a significant change. We are here to help!

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
