You have a deep-seated feeling that you are meant for greater things – a feeling that given the right environment, and the right circumstances, you can thrive. But you haven’t quite experienced this yet in reality, and for one reason or another, life hasn’t yet “come together” as well as you thought it should have. Either your relationships haven’t progressed or you haven’t found satisfaction at work — or both! As a result, your days are stressful, exhausting, and it feels like this cycle of defeat and disappointment won’t end. But the cycle can end.

Are you feeling stuck between life stages....unsure of who you are or where you're headed? Life transitions can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
As a young man myself, I understand how easy it is to push things aside or feel like you have to handle everything on your own. Whether you're navigating life after high school, adjusting to university or work, or just figuring out who you are, I offer a space that’s low-pressure, supportive, and free of judgment. You don’t need to have it all together to start. While our challenges may differ, we all share a need to feel seen, understood, and accepted.

I work with teens and adults, including athletes and men who may feel unsure about starting therapy. Many of the people I support are used to pushing through, staying disciplined, and handling things on their own, but internally feel overwhelmed, stuck, or constantly under pressure. You might find yourself overthinking, replaying situations, or unable to fully switch off, even when you’re supposed to be resting. Over time, this can lead to feeling mentally drained, unfocused, or disconnected from yourself, especially after setbacks, life changes, or periods of high stress, responsibility, and constant pressure.

I am on the side of you that is working towards what is best for you. What’s different about my approach? We’ll address the problem that brought you here, and then shift the focus to what you want instead. Together, we’ll explore the times when the problem has less influence, highlight what’s already working well, and build on your existing strengths and resources. This approach allows us to move beyond simply talking about difficulties and instead create practical steps toward change. My goal is to help you notice progress quickly and feel confident moving forward, so you can live the life you’re meant to live.

With mental health and addiction there comes this terrible feeling of powerlessness, shame and loss of control. Sometimes reaching out for help seems like too much. But when you do reach out, you will know what it's like to recover and the tremendous hope it brings. The strength you didn't know you had will appear and you will feel whole again - and in control. I would like to help you find that way forward.

Maybe your wife, partner, or family has been telling you it's time to talk to someone. Maybe you're tired of the same arguments, carrying stress home from work, losing your patience more than you'd like, or feeling stuck but not knowing how to change it. You don't need someone asking, "And how does that make you feel?" every five minutes. You want straight answers, practical conversations, and someone who gets to the point.

Sometimes, all we need is to have someone be there with us, to share the difficulties that life often holds, and to provide a warm space within which we can thrive. With an empathetic and person-centered approach to therapy, I will dedicate myself to providing a therapeutic space where you can feel heard, seen, and understood. Through therapy together I hope that you can find the hope and meaning you need to heal as an individual and build the lasting change that you would like to work towards.

I can help with men's issues, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, stress, burnout, relationships, family conflict, self-worth, and life transitions.
I support adults in Barrie and across Ontario with a key focus on men’s mental health and men’s issues. Many clients come to therapy feeling anxious, irritable, disconnected, burned out, low, grieving, self-critical, or unsure how to manage relationship stress, family conflict, neurodiversity, loneliness, or major life changes. I also work with older adults navigating later-life transitions and clients with ADHD, autism, OCD, epilepsy, BPD-related concerns, and emotion-regulation challenges. I bring a grounded, human approach shaped by both clinical training and an understanding of how hard it can be to ask for support at first too.

Hello, I’m Kyle. I am the Founder and Director of Karalash Counselling & Psychotherapy, where I lead a team of skilled clinicians providing therapeutic support.
Therapy is a vulnerable and deeply personal experience. I understand that opening up to a stranger can feel difficult, awkward, or uncomfortable. I also recognize how meaningful it can be to speak with someone outside of your day-to-day life—someone who can support concerns you may not feel ready to share with those around you.
Whether you connect with me or another member of my team, it is a privilege to be part of your health and wellness journey.

My work serves adults seeking therapy for anxiety, trauma, self-worth, self-esteem, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and career issues. Many of my clients are men, high-achieving professionals, and queer and BIPOC folks who show up in the world as capable and composed, but underneath, carry the weight of early shame and trauma, relational wounds, questions of identity and purpose, or a quiet sense that something essential is missing.

Healing is not about erasing pain but learning to coexist with it, finding peace and strength within life's inevitable struggles. As a psychotherapist, I create a space where healing is approached holistically, honouring the mind, body, and spirit. I believe therapy is more than symptom management; it's a journey toward deeper self-awareness, emotional regulation, and connection with one's authentic self. Healing happens in moments of presence, in learning to trust oneself, and in embracing the complexity of the human experience.

I take an integrative approach to therapy, meaning I draw from a variety of therapeutic styles to create a personalized experience that works for you. I favour experiential modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work, which helps us explore and understand the different parts of you that may have conflicting needs or desires (for example, one part may long for love while another fears commitment...). By working with these parts, we can reduce inner conflict and foster more balance and self-compassion. Alongside IFS, I incorporate practical and grounded tools from cognitive modalities (including ERP therapy for OCD).

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
