I have supported marginalized communities such as queer, trans, non-binary and polyamorous folx with these approaches.
Accepting clients for June 2025! As a therapist, my goal is that you feel seen, heard, and valued regardless of your sexuality, gender, ethnicity and beliefs. During each session, I endeavour to create a safer virtual space wherein you can discover and express your authenticity. When working with clients, I value collaboration and incorporating cultural humility into my work. You are the expert on what you need and want and I would like to help you get there. I might be the therapist for you if you want to work on your boundaries, perfectionism, critical self-talk, burnout and relationships with friends, family and/or partner(s).

Providing a competent space for queer clients, avoiding having to use precious session time to catch me "up".
Presently Accepting New Clients! - I take an integrative approach to therapy, meaning I draw from a variety of therapeutic styles to create a personalized experience that works for you. I favour experiential modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work, which helps us explore and understand the different parts of you that may have conflicting needs or desires—for example, one part may long for love while another fears commitment. By working with these parts, we can reduce inner conflict and foster more balance and self-compassion. Alongside IFS, I incorporate practical and grounded tools from cognitive modalities.

We also address social anxiety, confidence, grief, career change/burnout, trauma, LGBTQ issues, newcomers to Canada, friendship struggles, and emotionally immature parents.
Accepting New Clients (April 2025): You're a highly sensitive person who people-pleases, has a hard time setting boundaries, and struggles to regulate big emotions. You have read the self-help books, podcasts, tried meditation, journaling, exercise, clean eating, watched all the therapy Instagram reels - maybe you even tried therapy before, but you felt like you were just talking about your problems. You need somebody to help you actually PROCESS what’s going on, not just listen. You need somebody who can hold you accountable to making real change in your life, and (lovingly) call you on your shit

I work with students, professionals, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ clients, and those exploring cultural identity, intergenerational trauma, and cultural expectations.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you’re used to managing everything on your own. Whether you're navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, or unresolved trauma, you deserve support that feels safe, affirming, and honours your unique story. If any of this resonates, know that you're not alone and you don’t have to carry it all on your own.

Having the right therapist to talk to and collaborate with on your goals, challenges, and emotional turmoil can help put things into perspective and create a plan for success. It can be challenging to navigate the world in the face of oppression, disability, stigma, and other barriers to success. My therapy draws on inner strengths and authenticity to manage complex thoughts and emotions and increase feelings of empowerment. I emphasize meaning-making, the importance of self-efficacy in the healing process from cognitive, somatic, and social-constructivist perspectives.

Hi, I’m Carmelle. I believe everyone can benefit from the support of a mental health professional, and I would feel honoured for the opportunity to witness your journey of growth. Authenticity and empathy have guided my work as a therapist and social worker since 2017, particularly through my experience working with diverse and marginalized communities. Having transitioned to this field from the world of journalism, I see individuals as more than merely problems that need fixing—I want to ensure that you are the author of your own story. My priority is to create an environment where you feel comfortable and safe during our sessions.

You’re the one everyone leans on—but lately, you feel disconnected, exhausted, and unsure of who you are outside of others’ expectations. You might be processing trauma, stuck in cycles of guilt or burnout, or navigating addiction or cultural/family tension. Deep down, you want relief, clarity, and to feel more like yourself again. You’re ready to be supported for once—not fixed, not judged, just seen. You want to heal on your own terms, and finally feel safe in your body, mind, and choices.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
