None of this means you are not right for each other, and it does not mean you are headed for divorce either.
You have been together long enough that everyone assumes marriage is next, and part of you wonders the same thing. But underneath the question of whether to get married are the things you keep not talking about, or keep talking about in circles. The same argument comes back. One of you pushes to sort it out while the other goes quiet. Maybe you have even started wondering whether staying together is right at all. You have built a lot together and do not want to throw it away, yet you also do not want to marry your way into problems that are already there. You want to know you can really talk to each other before taking the next step, whichever direction that turns out to be.

You’ve tried talking it out, but you just find yourself in a shouting match - or with closed doors and closed lines of communication. Family dinners are a source of dread instead of connection. And forget “quality time” - at this point, all you want is silence, and a break from the arguing. There is hope. What if I told you that your broken family relationships could be put back together? What if I said there are tools you can learn that make the hard days easier? And what if all it took to start that journey was one phone call?

You send the text and then watch the phone, re-reading what you wrote, certain you said too much. You look for reassurance, and when it comes, part of you still does not quite believe it. You overthink, replay conversations, and brace for people to leave, often setting your own needs aside to keep them close. When something finally feels good, a quiet part of you goes looking for the crack. If you are here with a partner, you may know a different version of this: one of you reaches and protests when the distance grows, the other goes quiet and pulls away, and around it turns, with both of you feeling unseen.

Trauma can profoundly alter how we view ourselves, others, and the world. You might feel guilty, ashamed or overwhelmed thinking of your past experiences. It’s common to find it hard to trust others and to feel anxious about the safety of the world around you. You may be grappling with your identity, feeling disconnected from yourself, or overwhelmed by emotions. Despite the challenges you encounter, my goal is to ensure you feel not only supported but truly understood, acknowledged, and empowered.

Our therapists often hear from clients who say, "I'm aware of what I need to do, but I struggle to take action." This sentiment may resonate with you. It's normal to feel unsure and anxious during times of crisis, family conflict, relationship issues, or any significant life changes. However, if these emotions hinder your progress, ignoring them won't make them go away. It's crucial to acknowledge your fears, pinpoint their origins, and take proactive steps to overcome them for your well-being.

I work with women who are tired of never feeling good enough. They might struggle with low-self esteem, body image concerns, people-pleasing, and a pattern of getting stuck in relationships that leave them anxious, drained and feeling unchosen. They may constantly compare themselves to other women, rely on external validation and feel disconnected from their confidence, sexuality and sense of self. Through therapy, I help them understand the underlying patterns driving their struggles, build self-worth and develop the confidence to show up as their authentic selves- both in love and in life.

I know firsthand how heavy life can feel when you’re used to managing things independently, and I bring that knowledge into my work. I believe healing happens through connection and safety to be yourself—with me, you don’t have to perform, filter yourself, or figure it all out alone. I offer a steady, collaborative space where you can slow down, make sense of what's heavy, and feel understood. I support people navigating anxiety, life transitions, and relationship patterns like people-pleasing and self-abandonment. Together we can shift these tendencies by exploring what you feel, what you need, and what blocks your self-expression.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. You might wonder if it will help, if it’s worth it, or if anyone will truly understand you. I know what it’s like to sit in the client’s chair, feeling vulnerable yet hopeful, sharing the deepest parts of yourself while navigating the uncertainty of what comes next. My own experience shapes how I show up for you—with compassion, openness, and a commitment to creating a space where you can truly be yourself.

Maybe you're struggling in relationships, weighed down by family or societal pressures, or wondering why the same worries, emotions, and patterns keep showing up despite your best efforts to move forward. You may find yourself overthinking, feeling disconnected, or carrying a sense of never being "good enough." I work with both individuals and couples to better understand these patterns, explore what lies beneath them, and develop practical tools for meaningful change. I know reaching out for therapy can feel hard, especially when you're used to carrying things on your own. My goal is for you to feel supported from the very start.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
