My approach to therapy is Attachment and Interpersonal Neuroscience Based. Adult Attachment Theory (rooted in Attachment science) will uncover the ways our early attachment experiences in childhood, impact our relationships in adulthood. Interpersonal Neuroscience (rooted in Polyvagal Theory) focuses on the role of our nervous system, and why we respond to/interpret “threat” the way we do.

I am very passionate about addressing my clients’ unique experiences, and I provide client-centred therapy to help you get to where you want to be, however that may look. I have had considerable experience working with clients in rehabilitation settings, educating youth, adolescents, young adults, adults and their families who have had anxiety and/or other mental health challenges. I have also worked with older adults as they have progressed through rehabilitation. I have supported individuals throughout treatment, as my positivity and active listening helps clients tackle their concerns.

***ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: IN-PERSON & PHONE/VIDEO*** We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We have helped individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their minds that necessarily needs to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

I support individuals who are used to being the strong one — the dependable friend, partner, student, or caregiver — but who are quietly feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or burnt out. My clients often find themselves stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, or self-doubt, and they’re longing for a space to breathe and just be. Many are navigating life transitions, unresolved trauma, or cultural and family expectations that feel heavy to carry alone. They come to therapy because they’re ready to heal, reconnect, and move through life with more ease, confidence, and self-compassion.

Often when we experience difficulties in life we can feel stuck. We may spend our time and energy ruminating about the past or worrying about the future, leading us to miss the present moment. "The past is finished. Learn from it and let it go.The future is not here yet. Plan for it, but do not waste your time worrying about it.Worrying is worthless"(Brian L. Weiss).I'm passionate about my work and will work to help you tackle life's challenges that fit your lifestyle and goals for therapeutic change. By creating a safe, warm and welcoming environment as the foundation to help create change and help prevent later suffering/hardship

You’ve been carrying a lot: anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, past hurts, and it’s exhausting. Life can feel overwhelming, like you’re spinning in the same patterns no matter how hard you try. Maybe you want to feel lighter, calmer, and more like yourself. Maybe you’re ready to finally stop overthinking, stop shrinking to make others comfortable, and start understanding what’s been holding you back. Therapy can be a space to pause, explore, and begin creating real, lasting change. "When things change inside you, things change around you."

When individuals experience trauma or severe life stressors, it may become increasingly difficult to navigate day to day life. I ensure a safe space is cultivated by taking a person-centered approach; ensuring cultivation of a safe space through kindness, openness, empathy, and compassion. My greatest passion as a Clinician is to show how there is uniqueness and restoration in one's story, one's pain and collection of struggles.

My clients want therapy that actually works. They’ve tried traditional methods but feel like they need something deeper. My clients want to feel free from old patterns. They are ready to heal at a subconscious level so they don’t keep repeating the same struggles. My clients want a therapist who understands them. Someone who blends science, subconscious healing, and spirituality—not just a clinical approach.

Therapy is an opportunity to increase our resilience and to learn how to cope with undesirable life events. Anger, fear, sadness or guilt arise when life experiences are overlooked, neglected, and ununderstood. Anxiety & Depression is a response to the failure to care for the feelings & emotions of the self. Likewise, feelings of stress and inner discomfort need understanding to be changed. The psychotherapy techniques I use to ease client issues and discomfort include CBT, Talking Therapy, DBT skills, Client-Centred, Compassion, Emotional and Solution Focus Therapy, Psychoeducation, frameworks of attachment, and family systems.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
