Accepting NEW Clients - I often work with high-functioners who look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck on the inside. Many struggle with anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, relationship challenges, or a persistent sense that life doesn't feel the way they hoped it would. Often, they've spent years meeting expectations, taking care of others, or pushing through without stopping to ask what they truly want. I help clients understand the patterns shaping their lives and build the awareness, safety, and confidence to make more aligned choices.

The first step of seeking help for what troubles us mentally and emotionally is often the most difficult one. Through a humanistic approach, I endeavour to make the subsequent steps easier than walking them alone. I regard each person as inherently valuable, unique, with the potential for greater fullness of living. When one discovers and lives more in accordance with their personal values, I believe it is then that an individual can be secure, confident, and happy. Being able to form a real connection where one feels genuinely heard and understood can aid in healing and uncovering those values.

If you are an adult child of immigrant parents, you may have learned early to be the responsible one, the easy one, or the one who didn’t add more stress. Maybe you were the eldest who carried expectations, the middle who kept the peace or the high-achieving one who made your family proud. Even now, you might notice guilt around disappointing your parents, pressure to live up to what was hoped for you, or tension between your family’s needs and your own voice. You may feel misunderstood, responsible for others’ emotions, self-critical, or never quite enough. These roles and expectations often stay with us long past childhood.

Updated Sep 2026: Are you a highly sensitive, creative, possibly neurodivergent human who’s been told you’re “too much,” “too emotional,” or “too confusing” for the world around you? Maybe you’re just beginning to explore your true identity or question the roles you were handed - and it feels both liberating and deeply overwhelming. You feel things deeply, pick up on energy others miss, and turn to things like music, art, tarot, or creativity to make sense of it all. You’ve tried all the things - therapy TikToks, moon rituals, journaling, breathwork - but nothing seems to create the lasting change you're truly longing for inside

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
