I specialize in supporting adults with ADHD who feel stuck, scattered, or frustrated trying to stay focused and follow through. Many of the people I work with describe starting strong, then losing momentum, surrounded by unfinished tasks and self-criticism. They’re capable and driven, yet worn out from trying to keep up. Like many of them, you might be searching for more structure, calm, and confidence in daily life, and a clearer understanding of your brain so you can build consistency that lasts.

I offer "been-there-done-that" weight loss empathy & strategy!
I lost 100lbs and currently kept it off for eight years (I started August 15, 2012). I remember at my heaviest weight, I wanted to talk to someone who had been there, done that & understood I so badly wanted to change and my frustration at not changing. I wanted someone who could quiet my mind when it worried about my weight and help me gain control of my body and life. I know what it's like to start losing weight, only to abandon the effort shortly thereafter. If you repeat that pattern and put your health and quality of life at risk, then you likely feel that there are issues that need to be addressed psychologically - I can help!

I apply directive therapeutic strategies to help my clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals. I primarily assist individuals and couples struggling with pregnancy loss and infertility. I also help members of the LGBTQ community build families using Assisted Reproductive Technologies. Another segment of my client base are individuals seeking help for anxiety, depression and/or low-self-esteem. In addition, I use my background in fitness and wellness to guide my clients looking to lose weight or improve their overall health.

You might feel like you’re running on empty—juggling relationships, work, and expectations while quietly feeling anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from yourself. Maybe you’re tired from the constant self-doubt, overthinking or just trying to keep it all together. It's exhausting- I get it!

Whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, weight loss, parenting or relationship difficulties, or just feeling off and unsure why, therapy can be a place to slow down and make sense of it all.
Hi there, have you been feeling hijacked by your own thoughts - like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t shake the worry or guilt? Or perhaps you're dealing with burnout, or other life stressors. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. I am a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist. I care deeply about the people I work with, and I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. It often starts with noticing, naming, and gently shifting the patterns that are keeping you stuck. I’ll bring warmth, genuine caring, curiosity, and the occasional sense of humour as we figure things out together at your pace.

You might look like you’re managing just fine — but inside, you feel stuck. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t let up, habits like smoking or emotional eating, or fears that feel irrational but hard to shake. You’re not broken, your mind is just doing what it’s been conditioned to do. With the right tools, you can rewire that. I’m Georgia, a Certified Clinical Hypnotist with a background in psychology. I help people make meaningful, lasting change through personalized, evidence-based hypnosis — whether the goal is to feel more confident, overcome fears, manage weight, quit smoking, or build a calmer, more focused mind.

I specialize in supporting clients exhausted by weight loss challenges and overwhelmed by feelings of hopelessness, stress, and anxiety.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the same exhausting cycle of stress, anxiety, or emotional eating? Maybe your thoughts won’t quiet down, your emotions feel unpredictable, or your relationship with food feels out of control. You’ve tried willpower and quick fixes, but they don’t last. Deep down, you want to feel calmer, more in control, and at peace with yourself. If you’re in Guelph or anywhere in Ontario and struggling with anxiety, stress, or emotional eating, you’re not failing, something deeper is driving these patterns. With the right support, you can break free, regain confidence, and move toward lasting change.

I appreciate that seeking help can be intimidating. Many people feel that they suffer alone. People do not realize how common it is to suffer from mental health-related issues. In North America, one in five adults suffer from distress, such as depression, anxiety, and interpersonal problems. Psychotherapy is extremely effective at treating a wide variety of psychological issues. I provide evidence-based, individualized, and collaborative treatment to ensure the quality of care. My approach to psychotherapy incorporates cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and emotion-focused therapy (EFT).

In uncertain times the need for us to take responsibility for our own lives is essential. To experience being fully alive, we can't simply accept a destiny that other people or our culture want for us. We have to write our own story and walk our own path. My goal is to deepen your self-awareness and cultivate an acceptance of things as they are, not as we wish them to be, to bring light into the dark shadows of your life and restore your sense of who you are. We will seek to find the depth of your hidden potential and quiet the voices of self-doubt so you can ride the waves of human experience with grace and purpose.

I continue to work in private practice, treating individuals and couples in the following areas: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship counselling, fertility and weight loss.
People experience challenges in their lives that are sometimes difficult to work through alone. Together we can make sense of it, and achieve a healthier, happier life. By providing a safe and empathic space, you can explore those challenges currently in your life. My approach to each session is to be with you, through truly listening, providing a judgement-free environment, respectful challenge, and mutual participation throughout the therapeutic process. As a team, you and I will process the emotional, cognitive, physical, familial, and spiritual factors impacting your life, and preventing you from achieving your goals.

I am a Master of Social Work, psychotherapist, and Dietitian. For over 20 years, I have specialized in helping individuals and families to successfully move beyond the effects of a range of mental health and dietary challenges including eating disorders. Our journey together is paced as we attend to mental health, emotional, &/or eating management skills-building needs. Along the way, it is often necessary to identify "taken-for-granted" thought patterns, emotions, and behaviours that no longer align with your evolving life goals. Together, we rebuild your skills, confidence, hope, life, and important relationships.

Weight Loss Counsellors

What is the relationship between weight management and mental health?

Mental health can be significantly influenced by one's physical health, so overall improvements in one's quality of life as a result of improved physical functioning from weight loss can have an overall positive impact on an individual's mental health and allow them to engage more readily in everyday activities. In addition, many strategies used to manage weight, such as exercise and maintaining a healthy diet, are also associated with reducing the symptoms of common mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression. Individuals may also benefit from the improved self-esteem and self-efficacy that can come with successful weight management.

What is the psychological approach to losing weight?

While there are no specific therapy modalities specifically for weight loss, common psychological therapies can be highly effective in helping clients make lasting lifestyle changes. This may be called the "psychological approach" to weight loss because it does not rely on physical interventions, such as medication or weight loss surgery, to help clients lose weight. Weight loss counselling can be used in addition to or instead of such physical interventions. Some clients simply seek therapy to address the challenges that may accompany weight loss in general, including negative thoughts surrounding their body, disordered eating patterns, or difficulty completing daily tasks as a result of their weight challenges. In such cases, therapists will often utilise behavioural coaching or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to help clients understand how their thoughts may be influencing their diet and physical activity patterns.

What type of therapy is commonly used in weight loss counselling?

Weight loss counseling often involves a combination of therapy and psychoeducation. Common techniques used by weight loss counselors include journalling, thought diaries, and other Cognitive Behavioural Therapy strategies that encourage clients to consider how their feelings about their weight loss impact their mental health. Weight loss counsellors may also teach clients mindfulness exercises, which can be used by clients during and after eating to be more aware of physical cues from their body surrounding eating. Some clients looking for weight loss therapy may also benefit from group therapy approaches, which utilise the power of social connection and accountability to help clients adhere to their weight loss plan.

Is therapy recommended for individuals undergoing bariatric surgery?

While therapy is not a requirement for individuals undergoing bariatric surgery, many individuals undergoing weight loss surgery may benefit from seeing a counsellor. Prior to surgery, counsellors can help clients decide whether surgical weight loss is a good fit for them and assist in surgery preparation. Post-surgery, counsellors can assist clients with the psychological component of maintaining their weight loss, as well as help clients navigate any postoperative pain. Throughout the surgical process, therapists can help clients process body-image challenges that may come with dramatic changes in weight, as well as manage symptoms of anxiety or depression that may accompany the major life changes bariatric surgery can bring.
