The patterns that keep repeating, the relationships that keep breaking down the same way, the experiences that never quite got resolved. None of it appeared out of nowhere. It has roots, and understanding those roots is where real change actually begins. For individuals, that means finally making sense of what's been driving things beneath the surface. For couples, it means getting underneath the conflict to what the relationship is actually carrying. People do find their way through this. They rebuild. They reconnect with themselves and with the people they love. I work with individuals and couples who are ready to do that work.

Psychotherapy is a creative process where you invite a therapist into your world to help with a troubling personal issue. Asking for help can make you feel vulnerable. This is especially true when considering therapy. You can wish for help and yet also feel reluctant to reach out, because doing so likely means facing up to deeply personal and painful subjects.

I believe that everyone is unique and exploring our inner world can help us appreciate this uniqueness. Our journey and the pain that we go through in our life make each of us special. I have helped individuals, couples and families to discover their pain and realize how it impacts themselves and their relationships. The new meaning and insight that we gain from this exploration helps us accept and love our unique selves, and build deeper relationships with our loved ones.

Do you feel like you're going through the motions — disconnected from yourself or your life, even when things look fine on the outside? Maybe anxiety or numbness has become your baseline. Maybe you're stuck in patterns you can't think your way out of — in your relationships, your work, or your creative life.

You know that old saying, pain is inevitable but suffering is optional? I believe it. In a world where we don’t always get what we want and we’re surrounded by flawed individuals, pain truly is inevitable, but how often do we need let this pain derail us, or even destroy us?

You're a giver, and you put in 1000% to care for everyone around you. On the surface, everyone seems to love you, and you seem to have it all. But underneath all that, you feel a sense of loneliness. This is a common experience for many of the Asian clients I work with...stuck in a web of family and friends and a hurricane of obligations, you find yourself sacrificing your own needs for others. And the worst part is, sometimes, you don't even know what you want for yourself. Then your Inner Critic sets in, and you beat yourself up for all the things you feel you did wrong. And you wonder to yourself, "Will I ever be happy?"

Dear Reader: The reason I get out of bed every morning is not because I believe life is easy - but that it is difficult. What makes life difficult is the fact, that it presents an endless series of problems which require solutions. The very process of confronting and solving life's problems can be a painful one; at times full of sadness, confusion, anxiety, hurt, anger, fear and loneliness. These are uncomfortable feelings, sometimes highly distressing and can equal the worst kind of physical pain. Fearing the suffering involved, almost all of us have attempted to avoid confronting these problems.

I am the Treasurer of the Board of CAPT (Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapists). I've come to this professional life as a therapist after years as an English instructor (ESL), server, and professional musician. Many of us these days are feeling depressed and/or anxious about life and how to move forward. I know that it requires courage to trust another person with your story, but there is so much to be gained from speaking about it. Together, we can work to discover a deeper sense and better understanding of who you are. When you're ready, I'll be ready as well and we can work to change your life for the better.

You might be someone who understands difficult experiences intellectually but still feels their impact in your body—the constant vigilance, the shutdown, the exhaustion of managing everyone else's emotions. You're deeply self-aware and reflective, but stuck in patterns that feel hard to shift. You may be looking for approaches beyond talk therapy alone, wanting to address what feels unresolved at a nervous system level. Not simply coping strategies, but wanting to feel safer in your body and relationships, access feelings without overwhelm, feel genuinely at home in yourself, and create a life that reflects who you actually are.
