Everything can be broken down into small and manageable steps, and even small shifts can produce significant change and offer much needed relief. If you or your loved one (child, adolescent, or partner) seems to be stuck in repeating behaviours, or patterns that are stretching your patience and energy reserves, you've come to the right place. I'm here to help shoulder some of the emotional weight you've been carrying, and to let you know there is hope, tangible tools and strategies, and positive change on the other side of bravely stepping into this process.

In my 35 years treating depression I know how depression creates anxiety, stress, difficult relationships, and struggles with work. Depression is lonely. You hide it in order to get by. If you tell people, they make you feel it’s your fault. I understand that the core of depression is self hate. It robs joy and hope from life. I know how much you want your life to change so that you can live in peace rather than pain. When I work with you I’ll help you see that your depression is not a disease or a weakness. It is a message that is trying to convey information about who you are and what happened in your life.

We all struggle in invisible ways as our lives become inhibited by pressures and expectations of the day to day. We are often further debilitated by our less than perfect past, where old hurts and abandon influence our current choices. Most impacted are our relationships, our work, and our connection to the self. I believe therapy gives us the opportunity to both accept what was and is, and through growth orienting processes help us recreate ourselves into versions that feel more aligned with who we would like to become.

You're hurting. Despite the brave front, you're wondering if anyone really sees you, hears you, or understands you. In moments of deep honesty, you admit to yourself that you've been feeling this way for a long, long time. A friend of yours, a family member, maybe even your partner has told you that "You could use some help." You've googled your symptoms and downloaded apps, but you're really not sure what's going on with you. You've even tried therapy before, but it only seemed to scratch the surface. You're not alone, believe me: you sound like most of my clients.
