Couples Counselling Therapists in Toronto, ON

While I work with a variety of issues, I specialize in supporting individuals and couples with relationship issues, addictions & mood disorders.
Therapy can be a transformative journey, one that holds the potential to foster feelings of radical acceptance and self-compassion, cultivate a sense of inner peace, and provide healing and care to each and every part of you. Developing awareness of yourself and your relationships can often be the first step toward creating change. Together, we'll identify your strengths, explore patterns that may be holding you back and give space to those deeper parts of you that have longed to be seen and understood. We will also work through any events or self-talk that may be creating distress or keeping you stuck.

We have therapists that offer group, couples, and individual therapy for most mental health and stress related concerns as well as issues with relationships, stress, grief, and life balance.
Therapy shouldn't feel like a chore. While it might sometimes be hard to hear what is discussed in therapy, overall you should leave feeling like you've gained something useful or even transformative. Over time, you should feel you are getting stronger, more resilient and have shed layers of fear and anxiety. Of course this process can be overwhelming at times and you might not always progress on the timeframe that you thought you would, but when therapy goes well, you should feel more settled and more clear about your life. You should gain understanding about yourself and others and have a renewed sense of purpose and passion

I provide sex therapy and sex counselling for individuals or within relationship counselling or couples therapy.
People work with me when they want to experience more pleasurable sex with their partners or want to learn more about how to express their sexuality freely after trauma, healing pain, or managing compulsive behaviours. I work with both individuals and couples as they navigate emotional exploration, relationships, and self-discovery using attachment-informed, trauma-informed, and sex positive therapeutic approaches.
One of the bravest things a person can do is to begin to understand their own story. Life's challenges, both big and small, can become overwhelming to manage and carry alone. My role as your therapist is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can explore your experiences, express your feelings, and navigate the path to emotional healing and growth. My own healing journey has led me to this work with a passion for welcoming you here as you are. While working together, I aim to reflect back your worth and validate your experiences, knowing that each feeling you carry is invaluable to discovering more of your wholeness.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
