We can create a new relationship for your healing, one that centres YOU: your True Self, your feelings, and your voice.
Does this sound like you? You struggle with “people-pleasing.” You wear a "Happy Mask": you smile when you're sad, pretend to agree when you don't, and hide your vulnerability. Deep down, you just want people to like you! You have been called "too nice" or "self-less." You are overly accommodating in relationships; you leave yourself with just the scraps. Self-care, or asking for help, feels foreign. You have a hard time setting boundaries and advocating for your own needs, particularly in close relationships. You want to be more authentic, to feel better, and get your own needs met too.

WELCOME! You want to be at peace with yourself and the people around you. You want the freedom to follow your dreams, to be part of something that matters, and to live to your fullest potential. However, you may have hit a low point, feel you are missing out on life, or feel afraid and alone. You may have more bad days than good days and feel you are falling apart. You may struggle with: anxiety and panic attacks, pain, health anxiety, depression, loneliness, insomnia/sleeplessness, fear after a personal trauma, alchohol/substance use, lifestyles issues, an abusive relationship , or controlling your reaction to others.

I focus on the therapeutic relationship , viewing it as more important than a particular technique, and the foundation to build on.
Hi, I'm Audette! I work with individuals that are dealing with the challenges of life the best way they know how. Perhaps you're turning to food for comfort, cycling between bingeing and purging, or exercising beyond your limits. Maybe you're pushing your feelings down. It seems like the better option, and yet you're constantly exhausted and overwhelmed. On some level this works, but deep down, there's a part of you that wonders, is this it? Is there another way?

Life is beautiful but it is also hard, exhausting, sad, messy and temperamental. Coping with the intense pressures and stress we face can be very challenging and isolating. I believe therapy is about having a relationship where we can safely and authentically explore and discover where we tend to hide parts of ourselves, run away, and hold back our truth from the world. Together we will explore this in a manner that welcomes and supports your whole being to foster an ongoing process of self-awareness, healing and self development - and towards you moving in the world with greater resiliency, authenticity and a deeper sense of self.

When faced with a challenge or uncertainty, it can take a toll on your well-being, productivity, and self-worth. It can be difficult to talk to your friends, family, or romantic partner about how you are feeling, and finding a safe space can be the first step to feeling like yourself again. I am a registered social worker with over 9 years of experience working in mental health. I am a non-judgmental empath who strives to support and always meet my clients where they are at. I take a client-centered, trauma-focused, anti-oppressive approach, and work to collaboratively create a plan with my clients to help them achieve their goals.

Hi, I'm Ting Ting. I work with individuals (often professionals) experiencing issues related to anxiety, stress/burnout, perfectionism, trauma, shame, relationship difficulties, and cultural identity. I strive to make going to therapy feel like stepping into a safe space, where you’re being met with warmth, empathy and nonjudgement. In this safe space, I've had the pleasure of witnessing as clients learn to feel safer in their bodies and in the world, increase their sense of hope and empowerment, and become better able to reach their full potential in life, work, and in relationship with themselves and others.

I use my expertise to help individuals understand the factors that shaped their experience of the world and to become more flexible with how they act, relate, think, and make decisions. Clients will also be supported to develop healthier coping strategies to lessen the negative impact that chronic distress can have on their capacity to strive for meaningful goals. The client's internal resources and strengths are engaged to aid in the pursuit of these goals.

The body keeps the score. I help trauma survivors live full, and connected lives. I have many years of experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, as well as harmful, abusive, or neglectful childhood experiences. Trauma may impact your self-esteem, or create relationship issues, anxiety, alienation from the body, feelings of being disconnected from yourself and others. A central focus of my work has been supporting clients impacted by trauma without the lens of pathology. That’s to say: there’s nothing wrong with you at all. Your way of being in the world was developed as means of protection.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
