When difficult things happen, even if we ‘recover’, our lives are forever changed. Things that once felt normal can become impossible. When we journey from dancing to bedbound, working to sick, partnered to alone, our entire understanding of who we are shatters. How do we continue? Where do we find the strength to reimagine who we are?

I work with faith, I am a Christian but I do not push my beliefs.
I counsel and support individuals, couples and families who feel stuck in life or who have mental health or marriage issues. Anxiety, depression, addiction and family issues are my main focus. My training in social work, addictions, family therapy and personal experience enables me to help families support each other. Mental health issues have been part of my life and our families. We know from experience what helps us recover.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by grief, anxiety, stress, or burnout? Maybe you're navigating a recent loss, school or parenting challenges, racial trauma, or the emotional toll of simply trying to hold everything together. I support youth, women, and families who are carrying complex pain — helping them find relief, healing, and space to breathe. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and rooted in compassion and connection. I use a blend of CBT, narrative therapy, grief counselling, and clinical hypnosis to help clients access their strengths, shift painful patterns, and begin healing at their own pace.

You’ve always been the dependable, the fixer, the strong one, the one others lean on. But lately, that strength feels heavy... maybe you’re overthinking, second-guessing every choice. Maybe saying “No” feels impossible without guilt. Maybe you’re exhausted from carrying cultural pressures, family expectations, or old roles that no longer fit. If this resonates, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. Many of these challenges can stem from early family roles and patterns and show up later in adult life.

Therapy is not so much as "what do you need from me", but rather, "what do you need from you?" Who would you like to be for yourself? My humanistic background compels me to believe that clients often carry potential for growth that may be nurtured by the therapeutic relationship. While the specifics of clients' issues may vary, ultimately, many of us wish to be heard and understood. Although therapy may be directive at times, I often allow clients to lead and exercise their capacity for change.

People come to therapy for many reasons — to move through transitions, to find grounding in times of uncertainty, or to make sense of pain that feels too complex to hold alone. At the heart of my work is a deep respect for your inner system — recognizing that even the most protective parts have developed with incredible care and good intention, often in response to pain. As such, I will walk alongside you as you learn to listen to these parts and rediscover the wisdom that has always been within. Together, we will tend to what has been hurt, silenced, or burdened, and nurture a deeper sense of self-trust, compassion, and ease.

You look successful. You feel exhausted. You’re the person others rely on; at work, at home, and in your community. You perform at a high level, manage complex demands, and carry heavy responsibilities. On the outside you seem capable and composed, but on the inside you often feel anxious, overwhelmed, dissociated, or numb. You may be struggling with work stress, old trauma, burnout, expectations from family or culture, or difficulties with alcohol or other coping strategies. You’re not looking for more quick fixes or surface-level advice. You want real, lasting change —not just better coping tips. We can help. Book a consultation.

Have you ever had moments where emotions hit so fast and hard that a small trigger makes you lose control, hurting those you love, only to feel deep regret later? Perhaps you've even used self-harm to forcefully "cool down" intense feelings. Or maybe you find yourself increasingly numb, endlessly scrolling or gaming to escape the emptiness, struggling to genuinely connect with others. If so, you might feel confused or broken. But please know: you are not the problem. These reactions are often just your mind's survival strategies to cope with past trauma, chronic stress, or unresolved family wounds. When pain goes unseen, it erupts.

I have completed 4 Clinical Pastoral Education Units (hospital chaplaincy) with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care.
Your journey is sacred, and therapy is a place where you don’t have to explore it alone. With a background in nursing, chaplaincy, psychotherapy, and theology, I bring a warm, grounded, and down-to-earth approach to our time together. My priority is creating a space where you feel supported, understood, and safe enough to share what you’re carrying — and to help you navigate your situation in a way that helps you discover what’s possible on the other side of it.

As a 2nd gen Chinese-Canadian, I know how hard it is to find a therapist that "gets it" - the whole "immigrant experience" thing. My heart is for 1.5 and 2nd generation immigrants who are trying to figure themselves, others, and the world out. You may be feeling stuck, discouraged, lonely or even burnt out as a result. My goal is to create a place where you can feel seen and understood while navigating complex life situations, relationship dynamics, and feelings.

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognise an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
