[Full; waitlist closed] I believe that the challenges we face are inherently political. Internal struggles are connected to oppressive structures across generations. It is natural to feel hopeless, anxious or afraid in a world that is unjust and working against us. I support BIPOC clients who are feeling alone in these injustices. We work together to understand how our past experiences and present environments impact our wellbeing. I can support with issues related to family dynamics, relationships, diasporic identity, and self worth. I apply Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Internal Family Systems in my approach.

I also have an academic background in critical sociology and am passionate about offering a safe space for BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ folks.
Do you suffer from overwhelming emotions, depression, or anxiety? Are you feeling adrift or disconnected in your relationships? I bring an open curiosity to your experiences – whatever those may be – and, working together, we can uncover and navigate the internal and external obstacles you face. My goal as your therapist is to create a genuine, empathetic relationship between you and I, through which healing and change can take place. I also see individuals as embedded in broader social contexts that shape how we think, feel, and behave, and which may be implicated in psychological and interpersonal problems.

These things will affect how you view yourself and your place in our society. While the majority of my clients are from the African diaspora, I’m happy to meet with anyone who wants to share their story with me and welcome me as a supportive member of your village.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Toronto are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Toronto then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Toronto, or Child Psychologists in Toronto.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Toronto psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Toronto specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
