New in-person availability Monday evenings! You may feel stuck—repeating patterns in relationships, facing a harsh inner critic, or struggling with anxiety, burnout, or low self-worth. You might wonder why this keeps happening and how to change it. Many clients seek deeper connections, self-compassion, and inner calm. Even if you appear successful, you may feel overwhelmed inside. Therapy can help you understand what’s beneath the surface, heal emotional wounds, and build more secure, fulfilling relationships.

As a dedicated RP (Qualifying), I understand that the journey toward mental health and personal growth is unique for each person. My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed by issues such as anxiety, depression, and identity-related concerns. They are often searching for clarity amid the chaos of their thoughts and emotions, seeking a space where they can explore their feelings without judgment. These clients may struggle with self-esteem and identity, feeling uncertain about their place in the world. They might be navigating complex relationships or facing life transitions that prompt questions about who they are.

If you feel lost, stuck, or like your world is crumbling around you, you are not alone. Most people experience this when facing significant life changes. An aching feeling and a deep sadness accompany lost hopes and dreams. Times like this call into question, "Who am I?" Your identity feels like it has been swallowed up by the days and years spent tending to life's demands. This makes trying to figure out your next steps both overwhelming and terrifying. You want to feel on solid ground again and for your life to have purpose, meaning, and genuine connections to others.

A lot of people come to therapy when they're exhausted from trying to figure it out on their own. Whatever brings you here, you don't have to navigate it alone. Change is possible. My focus is on eating and body image concerns, including binge eating, compulsive eating, emotional eating, mindful eating, and the complicated relationship with food that can take up so much mental space. Alongside eating and body image concerns, I also work with individuals navigating anxiety, relationships, personal development, and life transitions. If something else is bringing you here and it feels like a good fit, I'd love to connect.

Our environments - current, historical, and structural - shape who we are and the stories we tell ourselves. Challenging relationships, unsupportive environments, along with life transitions and stressors can impact your sense of self, how you view the world, and the path you walk. To those around us, this may present as anxiety, low mood, lack of motivation, anger/irritability, isolation from people and activities of interest. Within ourselves, this may present as feelings of stress, shame, guilt, and resentment towards the stories that make up our life thus far.

I specialize in supporting people experiencing anxiety or depression in pregnancy/early parenthood as well as early adulthood. Becoming a parent is profoundly life-changing. While we anticipate the joys of parenthood, we can feel blindsided when it gets hard. It can bring up intense, sometimes scary feelings, be overwhelming or lonely. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to understand, process and cope with the changes in your life. By talking about your experiences, you can feel less alone and less overwhelmed, and together we can find ways for you to feel grounded again.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
